Proposals for December 2022
[edit]I am informing you of my conflict of interest, as I have a personal connection to the subject of this article. I am proposing improvements to the article’s structure, substance, and sourcing. Please let me know if I can be of any further help.
This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Request 1: In Infobox, I propose a new photo, which is four years more recent, higher quality and shows the subject as himself rather than as a character. The existing image appears to be a screengrab from a film, not a portrait of the person. MOS:IMAGERELEVANCE Please swap the photo from:
| image = JamieCostaJurassicWorldExodus.jpg
| caption = Costa in Jurassic World: Exodus (2018)
To:
| image = Jamie Costa Australia 2022 Small.jpg
|caption = Jamie Costa Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary Australia 2022
Request 2: Please delete all the sections with tables at the bottom of the article, which are entirely unsourced. These are “Filmography”, “Television”, “Video games” and “Stage.”
Request 3: In the Career section, please replace the first two sentences to remove promotional language (“gained much attention”) per WP: NPOV. I’ve also added missing reliable sources and corrected the citation format:
Suggested replacement sentences:
Starting in 2015, Costa began posting impersonations on Youtube, including Robin Willians,[1] [2] Ian McKellen,[3] Owen Wilson, Matthew McConaughey, and Harrison Ford.[2] He played Han Solo in a 2016 Star Wars fan film called Han Solo: A Smuggler's Trade.[4]
Request 4: In the Career section I recommend removing the two-sentence second paragraph. The first sentence, beginning with “In July 2015, Jamie moved to LA…” is not sourced. The second sentence, “He has appeared in many high quality fan projects…” seems contra to WP: NPOV. Further, that he “produced” is not sourced, contra WP: Reliable sources. Finally, the source the sentence provides is Jamie Costa’s Youtube channel and is contra WP: Primary.
Request 5: In the Career section please add a new sentence for Costa’s role in a new feature film, recently covered in a top-tier source Variety.
Suggested new sentence: — Preceding unsigned comment added by EdwardPS19 (talk • contribs) 19:07, 6 January 2023 (UTC) He is in the supporting cast of the feature film Bring Him to Me, a mob thriller in production as of December 2022, alongside actors Barry Pepper and Sam Neill.[5]
Request 6: In the lead of the article, in the last sentence, please delete the word “Australian” to describe the film Bring Him to Me. Variety says the film is being filmed in Australia. It doesn’t say it’s produced by Australian companies or even set in Australia.[1]. Also, the film title is wrong. I also suggest removing “making his feature film debut” because, even though it’s in the source, it contradicts other sourced statements in the article and it sounds a bit like WP:PUFFERY anyway. Here is the corrected sentence, based on the sourced content:
Suggested replacement sentence: He is in the supporting cast of the feature film Bring Him to Me. Thank you for considering these suggestions. EdwardPS19 (talk) 23:54, 19 December 2022 (UTC) EdwardPS19 (talk) 23:54, 19 December 2022 (UTC)
- Request 1: Done
- Request 2: I added a tag fue to the lack of citations. Hopefully those will be added eventually.
- Request 3: Appears to have been done already
- Request 4: Better to add a "citation needed". Let's keep information and build on it, not delete it.
- Request 5: Done

Additional Update Requests January 2023
[edit]An impartial editor has reviewed the proposed edit(s) and asked the editor with a conflict of interest to go ahead and make the suggested changes. |
I am once again informing you of my conflict of interest, as I know the subject of this article personally. I am proposing improvements to the article’s structure, substance, and sourcing. Please let me know if I can be of any further help.
Request 1: In the Lead’s first two sentences, I recommend revising to reflect the updated information from these requests and to conform to WP:Verify and Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lead section. Specifically, I suggested deleting “producer” as excessive detail; deleting “known for” as WP: Weasel; deleting his roles as Obi-Wan, Han Solo, and his impersonations of McKellen as excessive detail; and adding additional citations.
Suggested replacement sentence:
James Edward Costa (born May 12, 1990) is an American actor, writer, director and voice actor.[1][2] He gained international attention[3][4] for his impersonation of Robin Williams.[5][6][7]
Request 2: In the Career section I recommend removing the four-sentence third paragraph. The first sentence “Though once very active on social media he has now stepped away from it as of 2020” is unsourced. The second sentence, “He is also an accomplished producer having produced (and acted in) numerous commercials…” is unsourced and violates WP: NPOV with “an accomplished producer.” The third sentence, “He credits his acting coach Myra Turley…” uses IMDb as its source, which WP does not consider reliable Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 267#RfC: IMDb. The fourth sentence, “He continues to work on passion projects and establish himself in the industry” is unsourced, and sounds promotional.
Request 3: In the Career section I recommend adding the following sentences as a new third paragraph, documenting Costa’s acting career in the following years.
Suggested replacement sentences:
In 2017, Costa played supporting roles in the feature film Heaven Bound[8] and on the TV show My Crazy Ex.[9] In 2018, he played a supporting role in the movie Funny Story[10] and the Price of Fame TV series.[11] Costa played leading roles in the 2020 film Robot Riot,[12] and the 2021 series Spider Man and the Monsters of Manhattan.[13][14]
Request 4: In the Career section, in the paragraph that begins with the sentence “As of 2022, in an interview with Silver Screen Magazine…” I recommend removing the second sentence because it uses WP: PRIMARY in an unacceptable way, relying on the article subject’s own words from a Q&A interview. Further, the sentence refers mostly to anticipated future events, in violation of WP: Crystal ball. The sentence reads:
Jamie also announced he will be doing feature films with bigger roles and is currently working on developing a biopic.[15]
Request 5: Please delete the subsection header “Robin test footage” and trim the paragraphs that follow to remove violations of NPOV, excessive detail and and WP:Synthesis. The proposed replacement, below, can be added after the new third paragraph in Career that reviews his acting roles:
Suggested replacement sentences:
In 2021, Costa posted a five minute piece titled, "ROBIN Test Footage Scene," to YouTube.[1] The video shows Williams, played by Costa, in his trailer preparing for an episode of Mork & Mindy. His co-star Pam Dawber (portrayed by Sarah Murphree) brings news of John Belushi's death, prompting an emotional reaction from Williams.[16][5] The video received several million views.[4] USA Today and The Independent both called his imitation of Williams “uncanny.”[7][4]
Thank you for considering these suggestions. EdwardPS19 (talk) 19:05, 20 January 2023 (UTC) EdwardPS19 (talk) 19:05, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
