[edit]i wrote this stub because I am a bit of a fan of this man, and there was nothing on him here. I grabbed some of the information from http://www2.marianopolis.edu/quebechistory/bios/jamestshotwell.htm but i don't think I've plagiarised any. I also find shotwell's role in advancing the idea that ECOSOC should accredit NGOs in an advisory capacity fascinating - but this is proably not the place to discuss this. [edit]The "Shotwell Cottage" as it was known was on an hill top on 700 acres near Woodstock, New York. My mother's uncle Dr. Wendel Ter Bush, also a Columbia University professor, arranged for her family to stay there one summer while Shotwell was in Europe. I visited the "cottage" with its two stairways wide veranda trout stream and views with my parents in the early 60's.
