Family
[edit]Although Sunter is an uncommon surname, there is no reason to believe Canon Sunter was related to the other well-known Sunters in South Australian history: Edward Sunter (died 1 August 1870), first mayor of Strathalbyn, and his sons Gordon Edward Sunter (born 1882), James Clarkson Sunter, (died 16 March 1935) manager of hardware firm Colton, Palmer and Preston, and his brother James T. Sunter, (died 15 July 1896) second master at Prince Alfred College and secretary of the Teachers' Guild of South Australia. Doug butler (talk) 04:52, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
According to one report, James C. Sunter was a brother. This has been discounted on several grounds, but may be mentioned here. Doug butler (talk) 07:12, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
