Seinfeld appearance
[edit]Just spotted Mr Hong watching Chinatown and thought I recognised him from somewhere. I checked his IMDB: although I do remember him in Wayne's World 2, I'm pretty sure the reason something clicked was because he was the restaurant owner in the Seinfeld episode where they have to wait for the whole episode for a table, and he keeps giving tables to other people. Ahem. Yeah, just thought maybe the article should mention this as a notable appearance. 86.129.22.214 01:21, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
disambiguation page needed?
[edit]James Hong is also one of the founding entrpreneurs of Hot Or Not. The other founder is mentioned on this page: Jim Young (disambiguation)
- That is obviously not the same James Hong. If the other Hong ever gets a WP article, then that will be the appropriate time to add disambiguation pages/links. — -- Loadmaster (talk) 20:58, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
Las Vegas monk
[edit]When you appear in both parts of a two-parter, that is not a cameo. Garth Brooks telling Paul and Jamie in the opening scene of an episode of Mad About You that the song playing is by Garth Brooks is a cameo; Las Vegas is a full-blown guest appearance (as evidenced by being in the guest listings at the top of the episodes). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.202.162.49 (talk) 02:10, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Daughter
[edit]Does the section on Hong's daughter, April, really belong in his article? Obviously, she should be mentioned in the article, but I feel the information about her would be more appropriate in a separate article about her, rather than as a subsection of her father's article. Any other feelings?Nsfreeman (talk) 14:01, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
- Agree. Ucla90024 (talk) 15:24, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
Hong
[edit]Why is his surname Hong? His Chinese surname is Wu and Ng if you pronounce it in Cantonese. This should be explained. --2.245.197.231 (talk) 00:07, 6 January 2015 (UTC)
- Wu is not a factor; it is from the Ng, which is often rendered Hong, Wong, Ing, Eng, Ong, or Nang in the west.
- i would be curious to know what it might be in taishan dialect, tho. 209.172.23.227 (talk) 22:03, 6 July 2016 (UTC)
- Ng (吳) is "M" in Taishan/Szeyap and is not often rendered Hong, Wong, &c. in "the West". According to the article, James Hong's father's name was Ng Fok Hong (aka Frank W. Hong). The surname probably comes from the final syllable of his father's given name, i.e the "Hong" of "Fok Hong". This practice happens at times to confusion over the Eastern name order (cf. Patrick Soon-Shiong). Good luck finding a source to confirm it, though. — AjaxSmack 05:46, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
Quick Question
[edit]Is it true that Hong is a Presbyterian Christian?
If so, then what sources & references are there to add that in?Austin012599 (talk) 19:27, 19 November 2017 (UTC) Austin012599 (talk) 19:27, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
Formatting
[edit]This page is a mess, the section on his career is a dog's breakfast of credits that needs to be totally re-formatted 120.21.21.239 (talk) 12:40, 6 April 2022 (UTC)

I was hoping to edit in a major award that James has won throughout his career. It's the Annie award. DanceoftheBladeDragon (talk) 00:53, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
- Already done the fact that he won the Annie award (twice) is already mentioned. M.Bitton (talk) 01:20, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
