Grandfather?

[edit]

If can be confirmed, it could be worth mentioning that he was the grandchild of James Freeman. The relationship is explained in that article. Clarke's obituary lists the elder as "godfather" and his Steps of Belief pamphlet says he is "a grandson, through his mother, of the first avowed Unitarian minister in the United States...". Peacock tag

[edit]

I think the third-to-last paragraph of the Biography section (beginning "Clarke was an advocate of human rights...") is written more like a celebratory eulogy or obituary rather than an NPOV biography. I don't have the time or knowledge to fix it, sorry. R2-JL (talk) 09:18, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm... I don't see it as peacock. Maybe the "at heart he was a poet" sentence but that is easily removed without harm. --Midnightdreary (talk) 12:34, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Left KY in 1839 or 1840?

[edit]

It's currently in the article as 1938, but his autobiography / letters / diary suggests 1840 instead. 74.138.12.43 (talk) 00:07, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Can you provide a footnote in the future? Typically a third-party citation is a better reliable source. --Midnightdreary (talk) 01:46, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
