Jambavan - The Immortal
[edit]sri Jambabavan is incarnation of Lord Brahma. And as far as i know, in Ramayanam he is said to be one of the seranjeevi like Hanuman. So we can confine his life period to dwapara yuga. In Rama - Ravana war, Jambavan gave kick to Ravana in his chest that made ravana senseless. Hanuman, Jambavan and Sugriva had dueled Ravana seprately. All the three proved to be invincible made ravana tired and unconcious many times. We can find the duels in Kambaramayana. Hanuman is known as 'Sollin Selvan'(tamil), meaning known for his words,he wont give up his words. During duel between hanuman and ravana, Hanuman said to ravana as followed "If u dont die in this blow, then i won't fight u anymore" with blow given to ravana, he fell senseless but stood again. Next Ravana said, "If u survive in my blow, then ur name will be praised all time in 14 lokas" In dash both hanuman and ravana fell down. Ravana by himself praised hanuman's strength. Hanuman willingly left the duel. So we cant say ravana easily handled hanuman's punches...
While Duel with Jambavan, Ravana baited jambavan as " You Old ripen Bear gona kill me" For his ego, Jambavan gave mighty blows with his hands. Kambar in his ramayana says Jambavan palm was covering ravana's whole face.! Such a giant jambavan, Lord of Bears!. Jambavan quickly gave deadly blows to all his 10 faces and fierce kick in his chest making him flat on his chariot.
I have a doubt. Who is the wife of Jambavan and the mother of Jambavati? Could some answer me this? Vishal Kandassamy (talk) 04:06, 10 June 2022 (UTC)

Jambavantha → Jambavan — The Sanskrit Valmiki Ramayana, first version of the Ramayana, calls him Jambavan [1][2]. Also Jambavan has more Google book hits 712 vs 29 for Jambavantha. Redtigerxyz Talk 15:58, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
