Move request

  • It should be moved from Jeypore to Jaipur beacause, Jeypore is a town in Orissa.

I would merely like to point out...

that some of the earliest planned cities in the world were established in India many, many centuries before the modern age. To suggest Jaipur, founded in the eighteenth century, as the first sits very poorly with me, and ill befits the august nature of this, our little project. Does the word Harappan mean anything to anyone? I merely suggest that perhaps it should be changed to better reflect historical reality. -user Bordergroves

Bordergroves you have misunderstood the line. What the line "'that some of the earliest planned cities in the world'" means that Jaipur is the earliest one which incorporates modern principles of city architecture. ==

Introductory paragraphy

a majority of the openning paragraph is taken word-for-word from the website www.pinkcity.net, from its disclaimer at the bottom of the homepage. the site looks official-ish, and if it's going to be directly copied, it might as well have been listed under "External Links" (unless the copying was done without permission, then it should be removed/re-worded). and it's this site's disclaimer that mentions Jaipur as the first planned city in India (as discussed in the previous comment). that statement doesnt sit well with me either, but if we're going to take it up with somebody, it might as well be with the site where the info was copied from in the first place. Culture

Could please anyone with knowledge of the subject AND the English language overhaul this section? --Gunnar Hendrich (talk) 14:35, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

I too endorse the above view. It should include insight on cuisine, arts, fashion, etc. --Adroit09 (talk) 18:24, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

I am making an attempt to bring related sections under Culture.--Adroit09 (talk) 18:33, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

A 'bronze opportunity'

a bronze opportunity to plan a whole town. This is mysterious. Would a better opportunity be a 'silver opportunity'? A golden opportunity is familiar, of course. --Wetman (talk) 19:58, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

Economy

This section needs a lot of work from someone knowledgeable of the area. It lists basically everything produced in the city which I find excessive and not very important. Thousands of towns around the world and in India make ceramics, PVC, and so forth. I'm going to do some work on it but it would be nice if only the industries Jaipur is truly known for/renowned were to be listed.Coinmanj (talk) 22:42, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
