Lede needs attention from a business expert
One cannot recommend this article as it now stands. No one that is well informed about business value, leadership, or executive strategy would leave the 4000% factoid in the lede of this article; it smacks of the bygone, pre-Enron era of rah-rah business reporting. And on the basis of its sourcing to an interview, all Wikipedia editors should cringe. On the other hand, business journals and investigative journalistic works present reassessments of the Welch years at GE that are easily found, and as a whole can be weighed. While possibly unpopular with him and his devotees, the independent, third-party, scholarly views of those years are to be trusted more than personal interviews and news articles from those years (which lack perspective)—and such better sources do not paint as rosy a picture as does this lede (for a newsy, superficial but contrapunctual starting point, see here). Get eyes on this article that know business and business strategy, and that can retrospectively assess what was done at GE, in an objective manner, based on the expert secondary and tertiary business literatures. In short, lose the superficial, promotional one-off business headlines and interviews and stats (that are not encyclopedic in their intent), or the article will devolve to be wholly non-encyclopedic as well. 67.167.8.141 (talk) 18:25, 13 November 2019 (UTC)
