Letter

[edit]

Why is this letter still up? Shouldn't someone remove it and incorporate the information in the letter into the article itself? ERADEKator 02:48, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the quick answer to that is be bold and do it yourself. However, the long answer is that we really prefer to write our articles from verifiable materials, not just a letter from someone claiming to be JN. Verifiable means we need something that someone else can look up - a book, a magazine, a web page. AnonEMouse (squeak) 13:53, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

For the record, this is the letter that was written (posted here so you don't have to fish around for it in the article history). -- GentlemanGhost 10:45, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

To whom it may concern,

I'm writing because ever since a press release last month, I have been plagued with a lot of strange questions about my background. I couldn't understand why people would be asking me these question, or where they would have gotten these ideas from... so when I asked, they all shared one thing in common:

A reference to Wikipedia.

So I looked up "Jack Napier" at www.wikipedia.com, and found this article:

http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Jack_Napier_%28porn_star%29

Now, although it's a GREAT write-up, I could only DREAM of living up to some of the things that were mentioned:

"Jack Napier is an African American"

As far as my nationality goes, I’m Puerto Rican. I was born here in Inglewood, CA, and my natural mom was born in Harrisburg, VA, but she was raised in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico. (My "mom" that raised me was born in El Salvador) My dad is the only one that was born in Puerto Rico, in San Juan.

"born on 20 March 1976"

Actually, I was born, October 20th, 1976.

"6' 1"?

I'm actually "6'0" (72 inches)

"Napier takes his name from that of Jack Nicholson's character the Joker in the 1989 Batman film"

Not so... in fact, I was given the name in 1976... when I was born. "The Joker" had never been known as anything BUT "The Joker" or "The Red Hood" UNTIL 1989 when Tim Burton did the "Batman" film. The name for Jack Nicholson's character, "Napier", was actually a dedication to the actor, Alan Napier, who played "Alfred the butler" on the 60's live-action Batman series.

"Napier was an MIT EECS graduate 24 year old computer engineer"

I WISH! If I were any of that, I'm sure I never would have made it into this industry. I was a 23-year-old mail clerk for a CPA firm before I got started in the industry and I got started almost completely by accident. Someone from a porn production company was trying to cast an actress that had a phone number that resembled mine almost to the last digit. The lady misdialed the number and left me a message on my answering machine by mistake. I called back, thinking it was a customer service job that I had previously applied for. But when I called back, that’s when I learned that a porn company had accidentally contacted me! We started talking, and although I was honestly a little reluctant at first, I came in to the office, and the rest, as they say, is history.

I would GREATLY appreciate it if there was a way to have these "slight inaccuracies" corrected. Although it is a very flattering article, it’s more important to me that the information that friends and fans read about me is accurate.

I'm now registered at Wikipedia at:

http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Jacknapierlive

Please contact me at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

Jack Napier

NPOV edits

[edit]

I'm deleting/altering some of the sections that most gratuitously violate the NPOV. Super Jedi Droid is totally right about this thing; it's written almost to sound stupid. Dkostic 17:25, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

A big chunk of this article appears to be lifted directly from here: [1]. I'm deleting the offending sections. Dkostic 17:19, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Expansion required

[edit]

This article is in desperate need of expansion with information from reliable sources. If you care to help in this, please do so; if you care to help develop other aticles, please see WP:P*#Articles. -- Joe Beaudoin Jr. Think out loudWP:PORN BIO? 16:20, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Moved from brenneman's talk

You removed most of the external links from this article, commenting this was per WP:External links. I restored, and want to discuss. I am not sure which part of that those links would contradict; since it's an article about a porn star, presumably "tasteful" must be interpreted within the context. :-). Also the reason the article was kept around rather than removed by PROD is due to the actor's >100 film appearances, so linking to a list of those appearances would seem to be required. AnonEMouse (squeak) 14:47, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

*chuckle* I have no idea what "tasteful" means. I wear stripes with spots. But with regards to this, per the guideline, the removed links do not "provide a unique resource." If there is one in particular that anyone feels should be replaced, I'm happy to discuss it here. - brenneman {L} 00:47, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rewording?

[edit]

Now, I realize this is an article about a porn star, but it reads like an ad for a (very) cheesy porn convention biopic. Can someone figure out how to reword this without ruining it? Super Jedi Droid 06:33, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Problem with penis size information

[edit]

The information in this article is used as criterion for inclusion in the list at Human penis size#Men famous for their large penis as well as Category:Men with unusually large penis. Now, more than 50 names have been included, and there have been objections raised strong enough that both the list and the category are currently targeted for deletion. Placing this posting uniformly on the talk pages of the articles concerned, I would firstly encourage editors to make sure reliable sourcing is provided to support the claims regarding penis size. Secondly, editors might wish to involve themselves in the discussions taking place at Talk:Human penis size and Wikipedia:Categories for discussion. __meco 13:52, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(actor)/(pornographic actor) RfC

[edit]

An RfC which may affect this article's title is currently taking place (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Pornography#RfC: Should a person who has appeared in exclusively pornographic films be described as "(actor/-tress)" or "(pornographic actor/-tress)"?).
