COI

[edit]

I came across this article as it had a major tag on it. I removed the tag as the COI edits were hidden Looking at them I am wondering whether we can improve this article based on the comments. They seem to be good faith edits and I think we should remove the "His stepfather was not supportive of his guitar playing, and forbid Ely to play it in his company." Not everything needs to be included and in the scheme of the article it appears to be a minor point. However, it is quite a negative thing to say about his stepfather. I don't think the article would suffer without it. Any thoughts? AIRcorn (talk) 11:13, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Removed that sentence. AIRcorn (talk) 07:17, 5 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Louie Louie

[edit]

Why is there no statement by Ely regarding the words he actually sang for the original Louie Louie recording? Has he refused to offer anything on the subject? If so, why?

Also, "which they played it at dances" should be changed to "which they played at dances" and I would replace Ely was not happy with this turn of events, and Nordby and him left the band at once." with "Ely was not happy with this turn of events; consequently Nordby and he left the band." blackcloak (talk) 05:01, 10 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Confusion on death details

[edit]

Death was initially reported by KOIN in Portland as "late Monday" (4/27). Many major news sources are reporting the date of death as Tuesday 4/28.

Most sources report that he died as his home. However, the place of death has been variously cited as Redmond, OR (the nearest major city), Terrebonne, OR (the small town nearest his ranch), or Crooked River Ranch, OR (an unincorporated area near his ranch). Religious beliefs

[edit]

The NYT article has the son, Sean, saying his father was a Christian Scientist and that the son thought the final illness was skin cancer and that his father had not sought treatment. Request that someone at least add the Christian Scientist fact to the article so readers aren't asking "What religious beliefs?" 108.28.105.194 (talk) 15:49, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Also, the infobox lists "Christian rock" as one of his Genres, but I don't see any mention or substantiation of this in the article text. 108.28.105.194 (talk) 15:55, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Relbats. Good job! 108.28.105.194 (talk) 01:45, 2 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
