Career stats table

[edit]

Reasons for reverting the unexplained changes:

  • to restore chronological order earliest to latest, as is standard practice and required by the Manual of style;
  • to remove unnecessary full-width heading reading "England": Butland has never played outside England;
  • to restore the reference name "sbase", removal of which broke the referencing because it's also used elsewhere in the article;
  • to restore consistent date format, as required by the MoS;
  • to restore info helpful to the reader: stats correct as of end of season rather than a specific date of update, and the note "select season required via dropdown menu" tells the reader where the stats for each season come from: once Soccerbase goes over to the 2012/13 season, the main page of his profile there won't show previous seasons' stats or red/yellow cards separately;
  • to restore the explicit wording of the alternative text on the red and yellow cards;
  • to restore links to club season articles, which seem more relevant to Butland's seasonal performances than year in English football links;
  • to remove row for 2012/13 season: unnecessary until playing season starts in August, and there's no guarantee he'll still be at BCFC when it does;
  • to remove totals rows: until there are multiple rows, there's nothing to total.
  • to restore correct figure for goals conceded;

Perhaps you'd like to explain which bits you object to, and why. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 07:08, 18 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

National team section of infobox

[edit]

Butland was of course in the England squad for Euro 2012, but infobox international details should only be included once a player has made his debut. I don't think being an unused squad member at a major tournament is sufficient enough to include his senior international info in the infobox. Mattythewhite (talk) 20:46, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In general, I'd agree, but a hidden note had no effect, and leaving the details in with an explanatory note was less disruptive (both to me and to the encyclopedia) than keeping on reverting. The really interesting point would have been if England had won the thing, giving Mr Butland a medal but no senior appearance in his infobox: that would have been much more fun to try justifying to the casual observer... cheers, Struway2 (talk) 21:09, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
