[edit]@Nardog: Looks correct to me (like the JairJunior's pronunciation on Forvo). Good job. Sol505000 (talk) 15:29, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
Article title spelling
[edit]Jaboticaba seems to be the usual spelling in English. Google scholar has 253 English hits for jabuticaba and 767 for jaboticaba. Plantdrew (talk) 21:46, 25 May 2013 (UTC)
=> Agree with Plantdrew! Merriam-Webster dictionary uses the "o" spelling (there is no entry for either spellings of Jaboticaba in the Oxford English dictionary) and the NGram viewer shows historic prevalence of usage in English with "o" as well. Danylof (talk) 13:21, 1 February 2019 (UTC)
Can somebody please move this page to Jaboticaba? The Portuguese spelling is almost never used in English and is simply confusing. 2600:100F:B1AD:AE35:D4B6:161D:9682:32DA (talk) 20:07, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
- Actually, moving it to Plinia cauliflora would probably be better, because then the psuedo-disambiguation section for "jaboticaba" wouldn't be needed on this page. 2600:100F:B1AD:AE35:D4B6:161D:9682:32DA (talk) 20:26, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
- I've requested opinions at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Plants. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 00:48, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
- The vernacular names of related species could be moved to the list of species in Plinia.
- Also, the lede says that the article is about the fruit, but body of the article is about the plant. Moving the page to Plinia cauliflora is implicitly making a decision in favour of the latter. (I would agree that only one article is needed, and it should be the one of broader scope.)
- There is also the question of what should be done about the redirect left behind. Leave it at Plinia cauliflora or change it to Plinia, or make it a disambiguation page, or make Jaboticauda the disambiguation page, and redirect there? Lavateraguy (talk) 10:32, 24 September 2024 (UTC)
- I agree with moving the current article to Plinia cauliflora and making both spellings "jaboticaba" and jabuticaba redirect to it. Also making a (disambiguation), because of the Brazilian municipality of same name. DanGFSouza (talk) 15:03, 24 September 2024 (UTC)
- The only reason this article is titled "Jabuticaba" instead of the typical spelling is due to a single undiscussed move over a decade ago. There's no reason to keep it this way. Can somebody open a move request? 2600:100F:B1AE:EFCB:F826:4080:97D5:51D3 (talk) 06:38, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
