online publication of the story
[edit]I can't get the internet archive to open. Maybe it's just temporary. In any case, http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/34627 works. Kdammers (talk) 07:44, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
Fact and fiction.
[edit]Because of the confusion between Mary Celeste and Marie Celeste, I think it's important to explain the story in full. Fact and fiction have become interwoven - the actual facts, Doyle's story, and details from other sources (such as the presence of hot drinks on the table, etc)- and this is a start on clarifying the situation. When time permits I'll do a table of differences between the two tales. I'd be interested to know if anyone thinks, or if there is a Wikipedia policy, that mention should be made of the racist terms and attitudes present in Doyle's account.
