The Queen of Sheba scenerist credit

[edit]

There's really no way around {{maybe}} for the directorial credit on St. Elmo. There are two sides to the argument (Edwards or Bracken), and not just reliable but well-researched sources take different sides on the issue. But that leaves me with The Queen of Sheba and Edwards's scenerist credit. The Solomon filmography is the most comprehensive work, drawn (where possibly) from Fox's surviving internal materials. It credits Tracy with the story, but is silent on the topic of the screenplay. Likewise the AFI. It's nice when they agree. However, Silent Era's PSFL gives Edwards the scenerist credit. The PSFL is generally well-researched, and it's widely considered a reliable source, but I'd like a second source to confirm major details absent from Solomon. And, unfortunately, in the case of The Queen of Sheba, PSFL lists IMDB among the sources consulted, so there's a small chance that spurious information entered what's normally a reliable source through this route. And IMDB does certainly have the potential to be wrong about Edwards; it lists (or if not now, has at times) Edwards as producer for Under Two Flags, a credit that's almost certainly incorrect.

Ideally, can someone help provide a confirming source for the scenerist / screenplay adaptation credit on The Queen of Sheba? If not, is the current table status the best way to indicate the situation? Or, since PSFL's information is generally considered trustworthy, is it original research on my part to doubt the information provided? Squeamish Ossifrage (talk) 04:52, 8 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Couple other secondary sources seem to agree that Edwards did the screenplay for Tracy's story. I've gone ahead and Yes'ed the box, although I'll continue looking for further references. Squeamish Ossifrage (talk) 20:41, 8 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I've never liked how they cite IMDb which is very unreliable in actual practice. Wikipedia is not supposed to be so carefree and "Truth not verifiability" is a big part of Wikipedia as well. Original Research in the article space is a problem, but it is perfectly useful for evaluating claim on the talk page. Remember the Theodore Marston issues? More modern sources continue to use the error long after it is corrected.... Sorry I am not good on Edward's work so I cannot help in this part here.
