Historicity issue
[edit]The debate among historians about the historicity of the Susanin story is a lasting one. More can be Yandexed and Googled easily. Kostomarov was among prominent historians who doubted facts and was fiercely opposed by Sergey Solovyov among others. While the Susanin's story is mostly considered historical in the mainstream, shouldn't we add info about this debate to the article? I would just do it without asking but I would like to first raise this here to see if anyone knows the details already. --Irpen 00:26, August 16, 2005 (UTC)
- You don't need to put all details at once. Even a single sentence would be a good start, since the issue is clearly important. mikka (t) 18:56, 16 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit][1]: Death of Iwan Susanin. 17th century, orginal in Russian National Historical Museum. Quality is a bit low - I am sure you can find sth better on Russian lang pages, though. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 22:21, 17 November 2005 (UTC)
There is an interesting article in Polish here. It states that tsar was not in a monastery, but in a 'family-owned mansion at Dominino' and that Ivan was a leader (representative, wójt?) of a village called 'Dieriewieniki'. Since this contradicts the info in the current article, I hesitate to replace it. Could sb comment?--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 22:36, 17 November 2005 (UTC)
Posterity?
[edit]What about his posterity, privileged Russian legislation until 1917? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 193.40.110.66 (talk) 11:09, 5 April 2007 (UTC).
