Shinigami Image

[edit]

And then, I grabbed a pic of him in his shinigami form from a manga scan, but I'm new to editing and such, and not sure how to make it in a panel on the side. The image is there if someone could help me out with that.

It's a nice picture, but I'm a bit concerned about the fact that it is his main picture. It seems like a picture of him in shinigami form as one of the first things you see on the page would be a huge spoiler for anyone who hadn't gotten that far in the series. When I first open the page, the first thing I notice is the profile picture, I'm just saying maybe the picture should be under Character Outline or History where you can see the Spoiler Warning. (???) Seamoos 10:18, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
I've reverted it to the older image again. I don't care about it being a spoiler, but the newer version is hideous. I mean, what is he doing with his mouth? He looks like a muppet or something. Plus the colour quality is bad as well. --tjstrf talk 15:22, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that the old pic is better, especially in the sense that it doesn't give away the spoiler of him being a Shinigami, but I didn't raise a point about this because it's still spoiled in that his name is listed under Shinigami in the character lists at the bottom of Bleach character pages.67.135.15.12 17:00, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Gigai?

[edit]

So is his body a Gigai or is it a real body? Did they ever expalin that? This would mean that people in gigais are capable of having kids --Lego3400: The Sage of Time 17:59, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

wow thats a really good question, since we shouldn't be able to see him or anything in the material world if he was a shinigami. i am guessing he must have gotten a gigai from urahara. whether or not he left the soul society WITH urahara is another matter. clearly, gigai can have kids. which is extremely bizarre. 67.175.45.179 20:09, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think the evidence is there to suggest that he used a gigai like Rukia's--untraceable and slowly eroding at spiritual powers. Of course, it's entirely a theory, but it would make a lot of sense to me personally. 71.170.30.6 02:53, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My question is how did he get back to Shinigami form? He just sorta appeared when the Grand Fisher attacked Kon. Does he use the little skull glove thing Rukia had or some other artifact? It's all very interesting, but personally I want to see his Zanpakuto's shikai and bankai ^_^ User: Rin_The_Red 11:55, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is no clear proof of if he is in a gigai or Urahara (or some scientist) reverted to a human. Its also unclear how he lost his powers. Once we get the answer for one we'll be able to figure out the other. Ocaz 05:57, 19 February 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ocazional (talkcontribs)

That would require he start as a human, die, and then repossess his real body. Seeing as he's not a living skeleton, that doesn't seem too likely. --erachima formerly tjstrf 08:21, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Division?

[edit]

If he was a captain, and left 20 years ago.. couldn't 10th be the only division for him to have captained? 1st division is obviously occupied long into the past, 2nd has had soifon as captain for 100 years, 3rd has been under gin for 50. 4th's history is more vague but Retsu seems to have been captain for a while. Aizen was a captain before Gin, so 50 yrs +, Bykuya is 50 years as well. Shuinsui (8th) and Ukitake (13th) have been captains for a lonnng time, and 12th division had urahara before mariyu. Zaraki killed the previous 11th captain long ago, and Tousen was captain of 9th at the time Zaraki became a captain. Sajin's timeline follows tousen's for 7th...

So the only division that we can't say with confidence that we know who has been captain for the last 20+ years is 10th, which happens to be led by a rookie kid.. coincidence?

""Actually this makes sense to me 196.3.88.166 14:47, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

While it's a logical analysis, it's still speculation. I'd say it's just as likely that he was the captain of the 11th division. Not only do we not know when Zaraki 'killed' the other captain, we also don't know whether he really killed him (this becomes vague when Urahara is involved). By Isshin's torn robes, you can tell that something unusual happenned while he was captain. Maybe his body was torn up. It would also fit nicely with the storyline. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 15:43, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, we do know that renji got moved to 11th due to his fighty nature around the same time gin became captain, and proceeded to train with Ikkaku who was there because of Kenpachi.. 11th seems like a long shot. but yeah, until something canon sheds light on this, we can't add it to the article.

The manga just states Isshin as not having been a Shinigami for some 20 odd years. It says nothing of abandoning a Captain's post. Isshin could have abandoned his position long before ending his Shinigami career. This would leave several squads open, with the exception of the 1st (self-explanatory), 2nd (it would be unlikely with both Yoruichi and Soifon leading these divisions), 4th (self-explanatory), 8th (self-explanatory), 12th (self-explanatory) and 13th (self-explanatory). All others could have been previously filled by him. I personally think Isshin is one of the older Captains (like Unohana, Kyoraku, and Ukitake), sharing some history with the old man. Of course all this is nothing more than conjecture, but nothing at the moment would disprove this theory either. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.194.104.5 (talk) 14:24, 25 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Hmm based on logical thinking,Isshin would most likely be captain of the 10th squad. We know=

  1. 1st is occupied by Genryussai about 2000years ago,
  2. 2nd by Soi Fon a 100years ago,
  3. 3rd is Gin about 50years,
  4. 4th by Uohanna is a long time ago,
  5. 5th by Aizen which was a long time ago,
  6. 6th by Byakuya about 50years,
  7. 7th by Komamura which follows Tousens timeline,
  8. 8th by Kyoraku who is 1 of the first captains,
  9. 9th by Tousen,a long time ago judging by he being a shinigami when Aizen was a fukutaicho,
  10. 10th by Hitsugaya, which join the shinigami after Hinamori which was after Gin and Byakuya became captains,
  11. 11th by Zaraki,long time ago,follows Tousens timeline,
  12. 12th by Mayuri and Kisuke,so thats taken,
  13. 13th by Ukitake, one of the first captains.
  14. 14th hes a super sayain — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.10.76.27 (talk) 14:52, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

So logically,he would be the 10th as Kisuke said he hasn't been a captain for 20years,but this is just speculation.-Hanaichi 06:24, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting list, but it follows, for several divisions, the false assumption that Aizen was a captain for a very long time, hence the whole 'Tōsen timeline'. However, it is implied that actually Aizen has not been a captain that long. If ever since he became captain he planned to betray Soul Society (also implied), and many records from Urahara's time was lost by the time he tried to betray Soul Society, then it makes sense that he became a captain at least somewhat later than Urahara left. Considering he became one before Gin (I believe the exact time was 40 years), it's logically about 50-100 years before the main story. I have found nothing to imply that he has been a captain for a long time. Same with Komamura, Tōsen and Zaraki. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 18:07, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, I see it differently from you Hanaichi. And agree more with Ynhockey.
1st Division Captain's post is currently occupied by Genryūsai, from what we know he is also the Gotei 13's current incumbent, and seems to have a lengthy history as one of its members. Now we don't really know what role he played in the Gotei 13 while also simultaneously teaching at the Shinigami Academy (an academy he founded some two thousand years prior to the main storyline), but we do know that by the time Ukitake and Kyōraku were made Captains, Genryūsai was already the 1st Division's first seated officer. What we also know, is that Ukitake and Kyōraku were two of the institutes first graduates. Genryūsai's lengthy history with both the Gotei 13 and the first division, would suggest it impossible for Isshin to have been its Captain (unless he were even older than Genryūsai, which I doubt, considering the aging process really old spirits seem to undergo).
2nd Division Captain's post is currently held by Soifon, she's been it's Captain since Yoruichi deserted her role as the Special forces' incumbent. Which would imply that Soifon has been Captain of the 2nd division for some hundred years now. But what confuses me, is if Yoruchi was just the leader of the Special ops, or if the position comes with the role of being the 2nd Division's first seated officer? For now, nothing's too clear about the 2nd Division's history, so I take back what I said originally, and mark it a possible variable.
3rd Division Captain's post was formerly held by Gin, but seemed to have only been filled for a brief period of time (probably having proximity to Byakuya's reign). So this post's history as of yet, hasn't suggested anything to rule it out as a possiblity.
4th Division Captain's post is currently held by Unohana, but her demeanor gives of suggestions of having been a Captain for a fairly substantial period of time (I don't really like the idea of the sleeves of her white robes hinting at her seniority, simply because Aizen also had similar sleeves, and as we know, the story suggests that he couldn't have been a captain for a very long time, despite his having long sleeves on his white robe - plus I believe Aizen adresses her in the context of a superior?). I'm gonna rule out this one too (mostly on a whim).
5th Division Captain's post was formerly occupied by Aizen, but we know he couldn't have been a Captain for very long, because when Renji and Kira were in their seniority at the Academy, they were saved by Aizen, then, a lieutenant of the 5th Division, from a hollow. Aizen became its Captain shortly-after and assigned both a graduated Renji and Kira to his division. We know that Renji didn't stay on for long and was quickly transferred to the eleventh division (at this point Aizen was already making preperations for his subsequent plans, and saw that Renji was not one he could easily bend to his will, so he decided to get rid of him instead) and eventually moved Kira to the third division after Gin was appointed its captain. The time between Aizen's becoming captain of the fifth division and Gin's appointment to the third couldn't have been more than several years apart.
6th Division Captain's post is currently held by Byakuya, he too couldn't have been captain for long, considering Yoruichi's remarks. The 6th division's history, is also filled by gaps, so it remains a possibility.
7th Division Captain's post is currently held by Komamura. His story would suggest his promotion to Captain around the same time as Tōsen and Aizen (he refers to neither in the superior, and neither do they). So, this position can also be left open for considerable debate.
8th Division Captain's post is currently held by Kyōraku. He seems to share some old history with the division, and clearly is almost everyone's senior other than the old man, Ukitake, and possibly Unohana. So this doesn't seem likely or even a plausible possibility.\
9th Division Captain's post was formerly held by Tōsen. As stated before, his history would also suggest that he hadn't filled the position for very long.
10th Division Captain's post is currently occupied by Hitsugaya, but clearly, not only do we know that his promotion (prior to the Arrancar arc) was the most recent, but his appearance would suggest that he hasn't been a captain for very long. So the tenth division remains a possibility.
11th Division Captain's post is currently held by Zaraki Kenpachi, but as suggested by others, he's only recently aquired the position. His displacement of the previous seated officer suggests that he killed him to assume the role. However, this is only speculation by the other officers, the matter hasn't been delved on deep enough to know if the man was really killed.
12th Division Captain's post was formerly occupied by Kisuke until his "betrayal", his banishment from Soul Society occured around the same time Yoruichi disappeared (so, a hundred years to be exact). It's known that prior to his banishment, Kisuke had performed extensive research for the Gotei 13, we can assume this took a substantiated amount of time. So his time as Captain would have made it impossible for Isshin to be Captain, since they seem to share history together (and neither seeming to call each other in the superior). And Isshin couldn't have become captain otherwise, because we know Mayuri immediately assumed the role.
13th Division Captain's post is currently held by Ukitake, like his friend Kyōraku, he seems to have been attached to the division for quite some. We can assume that this is not a possibilty.

My personal favorites are the third division (why did Aizen want Gin in the third division -it would seem he had a say in where Gin was placed-?), the fifth division (Renji hasn't actually met Ichigo's father, despite his being inside Ichigo's house. Why?), and the 11th division (though Isshin doesn't stike me as someone particularly lustful for battle - maybe things changed after Zaraki). —The preceding comment was added by Jby 14:11, May 2 2007 (UTC).
Erm,Renji and Kira was saved when Ichimaru was a liuetenent, Aizen was already a captain. It was 2months after they entered the shinigami academy, and that there was a class exercise performing konso. Then attacked by hollows, that they were saved by Aizen. All this is in the manga, not anime. Anime was killing "dummy hollow" instead of konso excercise.Oh yeah if the Aizen timeline thing is wrong then everything is gone....But it is implied that Byakuya and Gin became 3rd and 5th captains about 50years before the main storyline. We can only wait until proof comes out in the manga.--Hanaichi 09:27, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Now this is pure speculation at best, but how likely would it be that Kurosaki has been one of the noble families in Soul Society? Note has, is not anymore. For it would be maybe the only reasonable explanation on how there could be two captain level shinigami just a generation apart in the Kurosaki -family. Also in some of the episodes in the anime, notably in the Soul Society arc, some of the captains were saying things like "His reiatsu is still going up? Who is this child..?" where the other captain remarks "No. Not the man you just saw in your mind."

Of course this is only really known by the creator of the series. --Petrim 16:48, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lol. But I think (pure speculation though) that Aizen became captain a long time ago (not after Urahara left, or how would Urahara know about Aizen also?). Firstly, if we are following Zaraki's timeline, he killed the captain of 11th division while Tosen was captain already. Then, we know that Ikkaku was kinda shocked that Urahara was Ichigo's teacher when Ichigo mentioned it during their duel. How would Ikkaku know about Urahara if he joined after Urahara left? Additionally, Aizen said it was a long time since he seen Yoruichi's face, so I do think its safe to say that Aizen was a captain years before the start of the story. Although he could have been a fukutaicho at the time of Urahara's departure lol.--Hanaichi 12:47, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There has been intense speculation as to Isshin having been the previous 11th Division Captain, which I was initially inclined to consider, but then remembered that the Captain's jacket Zaraki wears is the one he took from the previous Captain. So, if Isshin were the previous commander of the 11th, he'd be jacketless. Which he isn't. So he wasn't. :P 69.134.102.142 (talk) 19:55, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I aqree with --Petrim about the Idea that Ichigo is decended from a former noble family.I will also go further to say that i am quesstimating that the family would be the Shiba Clan. If you all recall in bleach episode 56 Kuukaku Shiba says that she would like to speak with Yoruichi Shihōin about matters dealing with thier fall of the former noble family The Shiba.I would also ask all of you to remember the extreme likeness that Kaien Shiba and both of his siblings have to Ichigo, and also how everyone in soul society thinks either of kaien dono or another character when they first see Ichigo's face. Now go back to the episode where you see Isshin in his robes and haori and then compare his face to Kaien Shiba, Kuukaku Shiba and even Ganju Shiba. In other words if we stick to the order of soul society in wich members of noble family's are born with spiritual energy's greater than normal shinigami then it would make sense that Ichigo be of one of these great familys. However it would have to be a fallen family because thats is the only way that Isshin would not be missed or known, and the only noble family that has fallen that we know of so far is the Shiba.Adon1s973 (talk) 17:48, 24 October 2009 (UTC)Adon1s973Adon1s973 (talk) 17:48, 24 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Persona

[edit]

Is this guy a pervert, or did I see a bad Sub of the episode with the Grand Fisher in it, it was where the family went to vist there mothers grave. The Dad did a Slide past his Daughter, and I think looked up her skirt and said " Hmmm Poca-dots " he was then kicked in the face by his other daughter.

He's not a pervert, he's just out of his fucking mind. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 20:11, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

-In the end of the soul society arc, when they show Renji's story, Kira says that Renji has been training to be vice-captain for 40 years, if Isshin left 20 years ago, shouldn't Renji and Rukia recognize him? being a captain and all... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.136.128.14 (talk) 10:39, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Urahara said isshin havent been a "shinigami" for 20 years, which means isshin havent had shinigami powers for 20 years, it doesnt mean he LEFT Soul society 20 years ago....IF isshin only left 20 years ago, dont you think other shinigami's would react to the name kurosaki (it thats even his name while in Soul Society) Also when Grand fisher killed his wife he stated he was POWERLESS at that time to stop him, It takes alot of time to drain a shinigamis power completely in a reiatsu draining gigai, look at rukia, she doesnt even have captain level reiatsu and could still use some kidou while in the powerdraining gigai (gaining the shinigami power back outside a draining gigai takes short time, Rukia came back as a shinigami to karakura town from SS in a very short time (They left to SS before summer holiday and came back after holiday, approx 2 months).(Hey my name is Martin & I believe that he could very well be the former Captain of Squad 11, I mean that it's very possible that he some how managed to survive after battling Zaraki, and the fact that no one in Soul Society recognizes the name Kurosaki could be that any Captain of Squad 11 goes by the name Kenpachi)

[[This is my "guess" ]]Urahara, Yoruichi and Isshin left soul society at the same time, Isshin went to live a normal life using a reiatsu draining gigai, went to school to study as a doctor together with ryuken and later married mazaki.

When Grand fisher appeared again fighting ichigo, isshin could do nothing even when ichigo was almost biting the dust, that made isshin decide to stop using a powerdraining gigai and once again become a shinigami. Episode 187 Shinji said "But the shinigami´s Reiatsu, Someone i dont know who is it?" Shinji a former shinigami, knows about Aizen but doesnt recognize Kurosaki Isshins Reiatstu, meaning. Either Isshin Kurosaki is one ass old former captain (left Soul sociecty 100 years ago together with Urahara and Yoruichi) Or, he wasnt even in gotei 13 to begin with but in the Royal Guard (Look at isshins Zanpakuto, its a tachi(during the Sengoku and Edo periods, certain high-ranking warriors of what became the ruling class would wear their sword tachi-style). also Grand fisher is also one old ass Hollow and isshin still calls him "brat".

Urahara also said "Of course, i wouldnt want you to blame me if your reiatsu went down", meaning isshin most likely used a powerdraining gigai from Urahara, hell for all we know, the powerdraining gigai was invented FOR Isshin to become human and live with Mazaki and Urahara got exiled for that). isshin said: "Dont worry, even if it did, i wouldnt blame it on you". (Meaning Isshin actually recieved a favour from Urahara, the favour to loose his shinigami powers and live like a normal human)

What most people misundestands what Urahara said is: How is it beeing a shinigami after 20 years, people think he LEFT soul society 20 years ago. but read further...

Isshin says: "From the start, i didnt have that much of a grudge on that hollow(grand fisher for killing masaki), If there is something that doesnt get clear at all even after 20 years, its the fact .That i was powerless to save masaki that night"

Now This reaaaaally confuses me, ok he made it sound like Masaki was killed 20 years ago...wth Ichigo is like only 15 now, his mom was killed when he was 6...this doesnt really add up to me..

Now isshin is getting back into shinigami business is because he is preparing for battle against aizen and his boys, isshin said "They(vaizard) are preparing for some kind of battle, just like us"

Isshin knows alot about Hougyoku. Isshin says (Even though they are still at that level. The power of the Hougyoku is incredible(You dont go saying incredible to something you dont have a deep knowledge of). He'll finish his research soon) Now this means Isshin have a deep knowledge about the Hougyoku which probably mean he was one of the guy who together with Urahara Developed the Hougyoku and probably got exiled for that too a loong loong time ago. --well all this is just how read the manga and think what kubo tite tries to tell us. 81.227.32.226 08:24, 23 July 2007 (UTC)//Kai Shiho[reply]

Does Ichigo know

[edit]

Does Ichigo ever realise that this is his father? Or am I wrong? If I am right do you know if it has been released in the anime? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.19.105.251 (talkcontribs).

Yes, Ichigo does know that Isshin is his father. I don't think he knows that he's a shinigami yet, though--$UIT 03:01, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ichigo doesn't know that his father was/is a shinigami too. It has been many times made fun of how poor Ichigo is in sensing Reiatsu (in shinigami cup golden mostly), but also in quite a few of the anime episodes, though this might just be because of lack of training since he was able to pick up spirit threads (forgot the japanese name) in few of the first ~30 episodes.--Petrim 16:48, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Recent redirect

[edit]

Ok, can the redirector give a reason for this? The page was redirected to the Kurosaki Family, but why, I really can't understand. Isn't Isshin notable enough to have his own article? I think he is, just by the fact that he possibly plays a bigger part in the story later; I doubt that the fact he's a shinigami was dropped out just for no reason. If you disagree, then by all means you should redirect pages about Yumichika Ayasegawa, Ikkaku Madarame, Hanatarō Yamada to the "Shinigami in Bleach" -page, since these charachters don't appear very often in the manga or the anime. --Petrim 08:44, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well SOME people disagree. I'm very firm that we should not have merged Shinji, and also Shunsui, but some people wouldn't listen would they?--Hanaichi 09:26, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What major contributions has he made? Other than defeating Grand Fisher his role in the series is no different from Karin's (family of Ichigo who occasionally makes a forgettable appearance). While I'm sure he'll do something significant eventually, Wikipedia does not give topics articles based on potential future importance. ~SnapperTo 17:27, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
