Israeli support for Hamas nominated for CSD, request deletion
[edit]{{db-attack|blanked=yes}}
I was unable to tag Israeli support for Hamas so please delete it. Jacker1968 (talk) 11:05, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
- The page does not "[serve] no purpose but to disparage or threaten its subject or some other entity." I do not see how it meets the criteria for speedy deletion. —Kusma (talk) 11:11, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
- This is ridiculous, various kinds of Israel support for Hamas and/or the Islamist groups out of which it arose is well-known, related to the Israeli strategy of dividing and conquering Palestinian resistance. Hanamizu (talk) 03:58, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
- It is also completely leading and inappropriate for there to be an "israeli support of hamas" article - it should be merged back into the article it originated from. Another option is to rename it "hamas relations with israel"
- the purpose of the article appears to be to paint Israel as somehow culpable for Hamas atrocities. This is not worthy of a wikipedia article Jacker1968 (talk) 12:53, 11 September 2024 (UTC)

- If you mean that you think that making a separate article 'overemphasizes' the topic, I hear you, but it's still a very important topic, partly because of how it relates to Israeli grand strategy. So, if you don't like it because you're afraid it 'demonizes' Israel, I gently ask you to live with that. Hanamizu (talk) 03:59, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
The first sentence is misleading
[edit]I seem to have lost my ability to edit (not sure why). Also, the improvement would take more time than I have now. But here's the problem: Hamas was created in a meeting during the first few weeks of the first intifada, 1987, as the resistance arm of the Islamic Brotherhood in Palestine. So to say that Israeli support for Hamas goes back to the 1970s and 1980s is anachronistic. What is probably meant by the article footnoted is that Israel support for the Islamist group(s) out of which Hamas arose goes back to the 70s and 80s. Help, anyone? 75.164.38.161 (talk) 03:57, 14 October 2024 (UTC)

This article contains incorrect information, for example: The article says that Hamas received support from Israel in the late 1970s and early 1980s, while Hamas was founded in December 1987! 2604:3D09:6281:D00:1119:29C7:D846:2071 (talk) 06:43, 4 December 2024 (UTC)

The article doesn't match any encyclopedia standard
[edit]Is "Israeli supoort for Hamas" an entity? An event? A person? Is there an article "France's support for ISIS" or "Germany's support for al-Queda"? With some motivation it's possible to compile a set of facts to support such narratives too.
However, it's obvious that such articles don't belong to encyclopedia are hence are not in Wikipedia. At the same time this article brings up facts of Israel's humanitarian decisions to allow Gazans to work in Israel (when there was a lot of occusations of Israel's "starving" Gaza), to allow Qatar to send money to Gaza for the same reason, taken out of context citations ("Israel is the reason of existance of Hamas") to promote narrative according to which Israelis, and not residents of Gaza, are responsible for bringing to power Hamas, and thus Israeli Jews had Oct 7 massacre coming. This article is another step to destroy the Wikipedia idea, sacrificing it for propaganda.
However, given that there are 2 billion Muslims and 7 million Israeli Jews to vote for articles, there is a little hope for objectivity and uniformly applied standards. EvgenyBen (talk) 12:03, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
- this article, as you say, it's completely against Wikipedia rules and standars, it's a propaganda article but, as you say too, 2.000 million vs 7 million is a problem here, and i'll add a lot of anti semitic, anti western, anti democracy, westeners too, so it's a difficult topic. My take: this article shouldn't exist at all, it's full of speculation and not facts, zero fact checked at all, just propaganda journalism as sources, incredible. Barrabas11 (talk) 00:02, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, removing it article completely would be the right thing to do.
- Honestly, I don't know who can do it, we must appeal to editors who can protect Wikipedia's objectity. EvgenyBen (talk) 08:03, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
