Although the most recent scholarly article currently cited in this Wikipedia article (Kimmig & Pratt 2015) refers to genus Isoxys as an "arthropod," a more recent article (Fu, Ortega-Hernandez, Daley, Zhang & Shu 2018 "Anamorphic development and extended parental care in a 520 million year-old stem-group euarthrood from China") refers to Isoxys as a "stem-group euarthropod." Euarthropod is the currently favored term synonymous with what was earlier called "arthropod," meaning in each instance Panarthropods with jointed appendages, among other distinctive features. For a taxon, such as the genus Isoxys, to be correctly described as an "arthropod" or "euarthropod," cladistically it must be within the "crown-group arthropods" or "crown-group euarthropods." A "stem-group euarthropod," by contrast refers a taxon which is a member of the polyphletic group of Panarthropods EXCLUSIVE of crown-group euarthropods. Accordingly, if Fu et al are correct that species within the Isoxys genus are stem-group euarthropods, they are not euarthropods (nor arthropods), but nevertheless are Panarthropods. Thus, if we follow Fu et al on this point, we should alter the TaxBox so as to delete the claim that the genus Isoxys is within the Arthropod phylum, and substitute therefor that this genus is within the clade "Panarthropoda." One cautionary note is that the Fu et al article is not a peer-reviewed publication, although it is authored by a distinguished group of paleontologists.Ray Glock-Grueneich (talk) 06:27, 24 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
