I would just like to point out that Rachmaninoff was inspired by Böcklins painting, and that there is no river Styx in the painting, nor can we be sure that Charon is in the painting. Wehrmeyer 2006

This page cites Wehrmeyer's book on Rachmaninoff in the lead; the year of publication is given as 2006, though, instead of 2004. I can't tell if this is a different edition of the book, or a mistake? My issue with the citation is that it sources the statement that Rachmaninoff concluded the composition while staying in Dresden in 1908 (sourced to "Wehrmeyer 2006", p. 51), which seems incongruous with the other sources I look at, all of which say that he wrote the piece from January to March in 1909. – Michael Aurel (talk) 03:26, 11 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
