Muchea was station 8 for the mercury space program, Island Lagoon (Woomera) was station 9. I am correcting this as it has been verified with the Mercury Space Program section of the NASA web site. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.148.241.60 (talk) 08:15, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
There should be an article about Island Lagoon itself, about which all I know is that it's a salt flat containing island-like outcrops.[1] In a certain light mirages probably make the salt look like water and the outcrops like real islands, which must have been slightly disappointing to any lost explorers who were dying of thirst.
Is this the same as the Red Lake tracking station or are they 2 seperate things. I can't find any definitive answers. frendy 10:41, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
