Removing the size estimates for now
[edit]Hello! I have been closely monitoring the pages of Indian Dinosaurs and working on revising some of them. My concern revolves around both Jainosaurus and Isisaurus for now. Both their Wikipedia pages mention that their lengths were 18 metres, the page about Isisaurus even mentions the weight of the animal. However, neither page cites any sources for their estimates. I spent a lot of effort to find any verification for these estimates, I for example read every single piece of literature I could find on these two animals online. Unfortunately none of them estimates the sizes of either animals. As a last ditch effort, I emailed Dr. Wilson and Prof. D’Emic, both of whom authored the detailed reassessment of Indian Titanosaurs in 2010. They both told me that no estimates for the sizes of these animals actually exist due to insufficient material.
That’s right, the estimates on both the pages don’t have any sources to back them up and come from nowhere. As such, I am removing both the pages’ claims about the animals’ sizes for now under Wikipedia’s no original research policy.
The good news is that Dr. Wilson did refer me to a method to determine the size of Sauropods by analysing the cross sections of their femur and humerus to determine their mass. This method might be possible to be applied to Jainosaurus, and I am going to do it, if I come to any conclusions about their sizes I will try my best to get the research published in a peer reviewed journal and finally cite the size of at least one of these dinosaurs. But for now, consider their sizes indeterminate. Thanks, have a good day, Ansh Ansh Saxena 7163 (talk) 10:04, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
