European Irish → ~~Irish people in Continental Europe~~ Irish people in mainland Europe— As this is what this article is about, Irish people in Continental Europe. "European Irish" is an absolutely horrible neologistic title, completely contrived and meaningless, since the Irish are a European people while Ireland is part of the European Union. No references to support "European Irish" as being used by any reliable sources. Comment/Question I've found many other ethnicity articles named with other conventions. Some have been moved back and forth, cited as neologisms. Per Wikipedia:WikiProject Ethnic groups#Article naming, there is no consensus on this issue. Is there a naming convention mentioned anywhere? Ruodyssey (talk) 06:01, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think the general idea is that these articles should be titled "[ethic group] in [country]", unless another term is in popular usage or is more accurate, such as Irish Americans or Black British. Support per nom, and after it's moved, it needs to be edited and referenced. This article was started by people associated with a website called European Irish (hence the name) and most of the content taken from there.

It is one of the most contrived, unencyclopaedic articles I've ever come across. Example: "We find Irish playing here with local soccer, rugby , darts and GAA clubs here; quite often these clubs are set-up by those in the Irish communities here." Who's we? Wikipedia?
