1924 internationals

[edit]

Who exactly organised the four 1924 games is unclear. These two sources seem to contradict each other. One suggests the FAI had a part. [1] The other suggests that Olympic Council of Ireland was the main organiser. [2] Sean Ryan also says that the FAI organised fundraising games against both a Welsh League XI and a Celtic XI to fund the trip to Paris. It also states that it was the FAI who organised the game against the home United States. [3] I suspect that the FAI organised the games on behalf of the OCI, as happens now and that it is more to do with the fact that the teams were amateur and not who organised them. This is hinted at by the Bohemians source. Another Olympic international from the 1948 Olympics also remains unlisted by the FAI, possibly because it was also an amateur team. Until the issue can be cleared for certain, I don’t think we should guess in the article itself. Djln--Djln (talk) 22:39, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
