Hi, thanks for pointing out Wikipedia:Notability (people), but I don't see where it says it is "customary to describe the subject of their book in a bit more detail". And of course, Irene has two books, the second of which is only mentioned. I suppose what bothers me is that half of what is supposed to be Irene's biography is taken up with a description of a book (actually, not even the book, but the subject of the book).

About Irene's name. She is known and refers to herself in the English-speaking world as Irene Tomaszewski. All her English-language writing, film work included, has appeared under this name. You get 1390 google hits typing "Irene Tomaszewski" into an English-language search - "Irena Tomaszewska" brings you 87. I think that, this being the English Wikipedia it only make sense to retitle the article and do a redirect. As I understand, I can't do this myself because my account isn't old enough. Thanks. I'm glad we talk. Your rationale about the name change sounds convincing. I'm moving the article thus creating a redirect. About the description of the book however, please look at most Wikipedia biographies of writers to see what I mean. They're usually quite extensive and often made into separate sections. Too bad, her life is summarised in so very few words, but that doesn't change the fact that her most important work deserves broadening. Cheers, Poeticbent talk 22:09, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Chronology

[edit]

The "Irene Tomaszewski" article says she was born in the Soviet gulag in 1940.

Farther down, the article says that in 1942 the family was evacuated from the Soviet Union and that, on the way, "Tomaszewski's mother Anna, pregnant with Irena, and her two sisters Wanda and Halina, were separated from the children's father, Felix."

If Irena was born "in 1940", how could her mother be pregnant with her in 1942?

Could someone please check the chronology and fill in some evident gaps in the iinformation?

Thanks.
