Terminology

[edit]

Cultural revolution and the council responsible for it are integral to Islamic regime's constitution today. The official term for it is "cultural revolution" and the word is used in all legal documents. It does not matter what journalists in other part of the world call it (or some pages in the Web). What matters is the official name. The main theme of the revolution and the objective of the council is Islamic for sure. However the name does not carry the word. The same is true historically. The original letter of Khomeini in December14 /1980 also call it "The cultural revolution". --Sina Kardar09:31, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't remove the term Islamic Cultural Revolution.--Patchouli 15:21, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I really do not understand why you insist so much on labeling subjects related to Iran with the word Islamic. I am not denying the Islamic nature of the events or rules etc. But it is not acceptable if for example some one names "Supreme leader of Iran" by "Islamic supreme leader of Iran". Or "Islamic Guardian Council" instead of "Guardian Council". Both the leader and Council are extremely Islamic, but this can not justify the naming. I am very well familiar with the revolution and how it damaged the fabric of my country, science and scientific society.Sina Kardar 20:57, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
"Islamic supreme leader of Iran" - did not match any documents.--Patchouli 21:05, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I will not change the name of the article. However, the term Islamic Cultural Revolution shouldn't be entirely omitted with the footnote that mentions the Chinese Cultural Revolution. This should be a good compromise.--Patchouli 21:45, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I propose removing the Mullahcracy link. Please see [2] for details. I will implement this change if there are no objections. Agha Nader 02:08, 14 February 2007 (UTC)Agha Nader[reply]

The article states: "Mahmoud Ahamdinejad tried to ease compulsory hijab and lessen other restrictions[11] after assuming 'presidency'". Why is presidency in quotations? Who is being quoted? I propose removing the quotations. Agha Nader 02:11, 14 February 2007 (UTC)Agha Nader[reply]

I believe the section header "Imposing Islam" is not accurate. Overwhelming evidence shows that the vast majority of students and faculty were muslims. Thus, Islam could not be 'imposed' on them. I can expand on this issue upon request. I changed the header to "Islamization of universities," which is the actual term that was used. Please see [3], "Committee for Islamization of universities."--Agha Nader (talk) 21:44, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
