Quotes
[edit]Hi Animalparty. I disagree with your removal of two quotes from the article.
- The first quote removed with the edit summary "trimmed a vanity quote by Horvath: we care more about how the website is received (bot others), not what the founder thinks of it." But the quote is not a "vanity quote" and it is not about "the website" or "what the founder thinks of it". Rather, it's a quote from the founder about the subjects the founder interviews, specifically, how some of the subjects will not give interviews. That's a quote about homeless people, not about InvisiblePeople.tv. The value of the quote is that it informs the reader that there are some homeless people that won't be interviewed because "they won't speak to anyone anymore"; it conveys information to the reader. The quote comes from one of the reliable sources cited in the article (Galliot), so it's not just me picking a quote, which would be WP:OR.
- The second quote removed with the edit summary "We're not here to promote the subject." But the quote does not promote the subject. It's not a quote by InvisiblePeople.tv or its founder, nor is it a quote about InvisiplePeople.tv or its founder. It's a quote by one of the interviewed homeless people about what it's like to be homeless. That adds value to the reader in that it shows the kinds of things that the interview subjects say when they're interviewed, and also shows what a homeless person has to say about being homeless. This quote also comes from a reliable source (Streit), so it's not my WP:OR.
- Concerns about being too WP:PROMO are mitigated somewhat here given that it's about a non-profit, rather than for-profit, entity. And in any event, neither of these quotes are about the article subject; rather, they tell the reader something about homelessness, and so I think they have encyclopedic value. Frankly, though I'm cognizant I don't WP:OWN the article, I think these quotes are like the best part of the entire article, so I feel strongly they should be included (particularly as it will hit the main page in a few hours).
Given the above arguments, would you agree to restore the quotes? Thanks, – Levivich 20:38, 4 June 2019 (UTC)
- Given lack of response, I've restored the quotes. – Levivich 14:24, 21 August 2019 (UTC)
