IMD in music
[edit]That info was just added and I made a new header for it. I'm not sure though, is it IMD in particular or just distortion in general that's relevant in music engineering? --Howdybob 21:44, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
IMD in music
[edit]Thank you for adding the header! I'm amazed by this site, a newbie for sure. This is a very debated topic in the music production, specifically audio engineering, community. Ever since the industry shifted to mostly digital audio recording technologies, engineers have been finding ways to "warm up" and "color" cold sounding digital audio. It seems that IMD is the technical term for these warm characteristics. Harmonic distortion is multi-dimensional in that it affects every element in a signal and also the crosstalk between the two stereo channels. If done with skill, the stereo image takes on a three dimensional personality that is much more appealing and life-like than straight digital mixing techniques. This site is awesome.
