[edit]can someone help solve the riddle of where I/B/E/S data comes from, and how it might be directly obtained without having to go through an intermediary like Bloomberg, Thomson, or Reuters?
YES, it cannot be obtained directly as is the proprietary information of Thomson Financial who bought the company. Other suppliers license the data from Thomson, eg Bloomberg. see this link http://www.thomson.com/content/financial/brand_overviews/IBES_First_Call —Preceding unsigned comment added by Redmind (talk • contribs) 09:00, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Parts of the article read like an advertisement and lack valid references
[edit]The statement, "The I/B/E/S database currently covers over 40,000 companies in 70 markets. It provides to a discriminating client base of 50,000 institutional money managers. More than 900 firms contribute data to I/B/E/S, from the largest global houses to regional and local brokers, with US data back to 1976 and international data back to 1987.", reads like an advertisement, especially the words "discriminating client base". The reference provided is just a link to Thomson Reuters home page. I suggest someone either find a valid reference for the statistics or delete the entire paragraph. At a minimum the word discriminating should be deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Techguy95 (talk • contribs) 01:50, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
