IMT Motto

REPLY - Thanks for the message. While I donot completely agree with the edits, I would still like to thank you for your constructive comments. Anyway, I find that some one has reverted some of the changes, even before I could edit it. I am reverting some your changes to it. More importantly, to the changes I donot agree to, please find my comments below. May I request you to kindly check them out before any more edits are done.

• Removal of It has constantly been the pioneer in nurturing business leaders ..... I think this truly reflects the mission of IMT. Hence I think we should keep it.
• I donot entirly agree to your style of formatting. Though my style has a lot of gaps, I feel it looks good on the web page. Please do discuss this.
• I am adding the references to the top 10 Institutes in the first line.
• I donot agree to the removal of the Section Looking to Scale Greater Heights. I feel every article should have an ending that summaries the entire article and charts out the future path. Hence I vote that we keep this section. Please do discuss this.

Oh ! by the way, though I hate blowing my own trumphet, I actually wrote the entire article. Thanks for your appreciation.

Akhil Dayal - "Director"

A minor edit war is beginning over one of the links on this page - namely, the job description of Akhil Dayal, who is listed as "Director, Deloitte Consulting LLP". Director is a disambiguation link, and shouldn't be used in an article in the main namespace, such as this one. I initially redirected this to Board of directors, assuming Mr Dayal is a director of the company. If a more accurate term, such as Executive director or Managing director is appropriate, please use that instead. However, please don't leave the link as [[Director]] - that doesn't go anywhere. Perhaps it might be better to remove the link altogether. Tevildo 22:45, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

• Point noted, but then to be rather curt, when there is no information on Mr. Akhil Dayal's exact designation, then I think it is rather prudent to remove the link to Director than replace it with a designation that is factually incorrect. I fully believe in the indepedence of users in editing Wikipedia articles, hopefully making them better, but to do so based on guess work is something , I am sure you will agree, is not an appreciable fact. • I have removed the internal link to Director and the same can be checked in the article's history page. Thanks for clearing the air. Will try to find out the exact designation of Mr. Dayal and update this page.

• Director is a very common designation in India. In many cases, Director per se is the designation and is usually above an Executive Director in ranking and below the Managing Director. Sometimes prefixes like Corporate, Sales, HR etc. are used to further define the respective roles, but in many cases, especially, when the roles demand cross functional direction, only the designation of Director is used. Most consulting firms in India use only Director as their designations, as in these firms, at such high levels, directors have a cross functional role. In light of this information, please let me know if I should, revert Mr. Akhil Dayal's designation to that of just a Director.Jordy 20:47, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the clarification. In the UK and the USA, his position would be described as a "Partner", so the most appropriate link would be Partnership. If this still isn't completely appropriate, I think it's better to leave the word unlinked, as it is presently. Tevildo 20:59, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

• Hello Tevildo, thanks for your reply. While some of the consultancy firms that follow their US designation in India, like Ernst and Young and KPMG, actually still have their Directorial staff called as "Partners", some of the other consultancy firms, which are, to use the word for the lack of a better word, more "localised" , have introduced Directors and Vice Presidents as designations. What I intend to do is mail Mr. Akhil Dayal for clarity. I will also mail him the Wikipedia links and ask him for his comments, may be we can resolve it after that. What do you say ? That sounds like a good idea. If his position is of a type that isn't adequately covered by Partnership or Executive director or any of the other options we currently have, perhaps you, or someone else, could write a brief article describing this type of directorship. It _will_ need a unique title, of course. My only concern - which I'm sure I don't need to repeat - is that the link goes somewhere other than the disambig page. Tevildo 17:01, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
