WIKI Critique of actual IMA article: The Wikipedia entry is composed of five sections, the initial summary, “Architectural Features,” “In Popular Culture,” “Presidents of the AWI,” and “See Also.” Within these sections there is minimal information. For example, the summary is composed of just two sentences, giving a brief description of the history of the Institution’s foundation and mission. While the summary is valid and well composed, the entry could be improved if the eighteen founding countries and current members were listed. Moreover, this section would benefit from summarizing all facets of the institute and the importance of the building in upholding the Institution's mission. The most expansive and in depth presentation of information is found in the section titled "Architectural Features." Here the author(s) discuss the importance of topology in the building's design, noting the curve of the Seine and how the architecture functions within the cityscape. Moreover, Jean Nouvel and the Architecture Studio are acknowledged for their work and the innovation present in the building's tripart walls. It is in this section that the entry glosses over the importance of the Arab world for the architectural design, noting, albeit briefly, how the functionality and aesthetic of the design are derived from cooling techniques used in "Islamic Architecture." The Wiki page also makes note of the Aga Khan awarded to the building in the 1987-1989 cycle. Despite this information and the ability of the page to maintain an impartial voice, there are many facets to the art and architecture which help define the institution that are missing from the Wikipedia. For example, one could discuss more than just the functionality of the walls, by addressing their reaction to the natural light and delving into the mosaic influence. In order to help bolster the page, it could also be suggested that there be the addition of a section entitled "Arts and Culture" which would discuss some of the more high profile cultural events and exhibitions organized and hosted by the IMA throughout the years. An additional, suggestion would be to increase the number of pages referenced under the "See Also" header which currently lists one link to a Wiki page of Paris museums. Finally, it would be useful for readers to also include links to the Wikipedia pages for Jean Nouvel, the Louvre Abu Dabi, and other non-Western museums in Paris. In conclusion, while the Wikipedia page for the Institut du Monde Arabe does summarize many of the key aspects of the institution there are a number of ways in which the entry could be improved in order to present a well-rounded summation. - USER Kemped — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kemped (talkcontribs) 00:21, 18 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
