[edit]This article isn't mentioning text chat at all, I suggest it should be renamed into IM client and more closely aggregated to Instant messaging.
Or if that is not the intention, then all other synchronous conferencing protocols should be mentioned and treated.

Listing clients for every protocol is very inefficient. There is much better table in Comparison_of_instant_messaging_clients#Protocol_support.--stikonas 20:41, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
