Relevance?

[edit]

In "The Sins of the Fathers" he investigates a murder in a brewery-owning family while in the first episode, "The Dead of Jericho", he compares the life of a dead woman with that of Jocasta, the mother of Oedipus.

Why are these facts worth noting? Why are they in the same sentence when they seem to be unconnected? 91.107.134.251 (talk) 19:43, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's because the section is about how Morse's interests are somehow reflected by his cases (real ale, the Classics). I suppose it's just meant to give a summary of some of his cases, although I agree that taken out of context these two sentences are a little random. Bob talk 20:40, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

I left something out of my edit summary. The logo that was used in the infobox was the cover art for the US DVDs. We should only be using the logo from the original UK airings of the show. I know that it was just "Inspector Morse" on a black background but this is not the only programme that has that. Apologies for hitting save too soon. Categories

[edit]

I have removed this article from Category:Television series set in the 1980s and Category:Television series set in the 1990s. These categegories are for TV series set in these decades, but not made then (ie series made in the 1970s or earlier but set in the then future 1980s or 1990s any series produced after the 1980s or 1990s, but set during the period). This is explained on the category page. As the Morse TV series was made in the 1980s and 1990s (and the episodes show no signs of being set other than around the year they were broadcast) it is not appropriate for the article to be in these particular categories. Would someone please add a spoiler alert?

[edit]

Is it necessary to say "Morse's eventual death in the final episode "The Remorseful Day" is caused by heart problems exacerbated by heavy drinking, although in the books his death is diabetes-related?"

I wasn't happy to learn this, having not seen as the shows.

If this must be included, a spoiler alert would be appreciated.

Please see WP:SPOILER. MarnetteD|Talk 19:45, 14 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Music

[edit]

The audio sample doesn't match the given score. The morse-like motif in the audio seems to be 6, not 4 bars long and the rhythm and durations are different. I would transcribe the audio like this:

{ \time 3/4 \relative c'' { e2. e2. e4 e e e8 e4. e8 r8 e4 e e e4 r2}}

(Hope this renders correctly, couldn't preview because "Musical scores are temporarily disabled.") --2.204.231.111 (talk) 19:50, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Abandoned user draft

Please would an interested editor assess the 2010 expansion of this article at User:Frickative/Inspector Morse (TV series), incorporate whatever is useful, and leave a note here when done? – Fayenatic London 21:02, 5 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Morse's car

[edit]

A recurring meme in the series is Morse's car a 2.4 liter Jaguar Mark 2 in regency red. It fits his character and other tastes, a vintage car, but not ancient, by the time the series first airs. It's a little sporty, classic, an almost bohemian refinement. 97.126.91.54 (talk) 06:13, 23 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
