Changes Made

[edit]

I have recently completed a total overhaul of the article, including extensive referencing, new picture etc etc.

If you see something that has changed and have an issue let me know on the my talk page.

Scheduled changes

[edit]

Just reading through the article, and as an ex-resident I can see that there are a couple of issues:

  • The article is not very interesting (save for the history part)
  • The introduction is too long, and the bottom of the page is cluttered
  • There are no references
  • There should be some depiction of damage and flooding, especially flooding on account of being a regular annual occurence.

I will be working on this over the next couple of weeks, and it would be great if others could address these issues too. Abcdefghayden 02:00, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

According to D. Jones p.73 Hurricane Lamps and Blue Umbrellas p.73, the Johnstone was named by Dalrymple... "I therefore consider that i was justified in naming the river after Mr. Johnstone who has become identified with enterprise...etc..". and includes apologies to Moresby for the change because he had previously called it the Gladys. Also, I think the Fete of the Three Saints has more to do with Silkwood than Innisfail124.186.238.207Dale —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.186.238.207 (talk) 04:52, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Innisfail hospital

[edit]

I've got a question that may be answered by someone with local knowledge. I'm trying to resolve an issue on the Steve Corica article, where different sources state his birthplace as Innisfail or Cairns. He was born in 1973, so did Innisfail have a maternity ward then or would his mother have needed to drive on to Cairns? Any local help would be appreciated. - Tomperc (talk) 12:36, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reference to alternate local spelling/pronunciation "Innisvale"?

[edit]

Going to school in Queensland in the 90's, we were always taught that the town's name is in fact pronounced and interpreted as Innisvale (like "The Vale" in Game of Thrones). Should there be a reference to the local custom of this spelling and pronunciation that occurs in the township itself? 203.46.132.214 (talk) 05:42, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sugar Ray filming

[edit]

I removed the content "In 2001, Los Angeles band Sugar Ray filmed part of their music DVD "Music in High Places" at the Johnstone Crocodile Farm in Innisfail." because it has been uncited for about 10 years. I looked for citations to confirm it. After 10 years, there are a lot of websites that say exactly this because they are mirrors of Wikipedia or not at reliable (and usually use the exact same sentence). Of the sites that don't look like mirrors, it appears to be verifiable that Sugar Ray came to Queensland and filmed, that they visited a crocodile farm (but no mention of filming there), and did not name either the crocodile farm nor mention Innisfail. Feel free to reinstate the content if reliable sources can be found. Kerry (talk) 06:20, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
