Proposed merge with Data literacy

[edit]

For the purposes of competency in understanding and manipulation data is just a synonym for information. Ethanpet113 (talk) 08:35, 9 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Qin et al.[1] differentiate between Information Literacy and Science Data Literacy as follows:
Ability and Skills for Information Literacy: Finding, retrieving, analyzing, and using information.
Ability and Skills for Science Data Literacy: managing, evaluating, and using data for scientific inquiry.

I desagree about merging Information Literacy with Data Literacy

[edit]

Hello,

As the article "Toward an Undersanding of Data Literacy", wrote by Hammad Raulf Khanm Jeonghyun Kim and Hsia-Ching Chang, from University of North Texas, there are several approaches about Data Literacy as 1- Data Literacy as skills required for data driven decision making, 2- Data Literacy as activities supporting research data services and 3- Data literacy as a Set of practices for data lifecycle. So, I desagree that Data Literacy is the the same of Information Literacy, that has also its own specific aproaches. Both Data Literacy and Information Literacy are new concepts yet. I also desagree about merging Information Literacy with Data Literacy

[edit]

Recently the European Commission [2] and the German Stifterverband together with Hochschulforum Digitalisierung [3] established university learning and education on the concept of data literacy.

This recent educational approaches take a processual perspective on all data topics and synchronizes different aspects as data ethics, extract, transfer, data visualization etc. into this data cycle.

Data in this sense is strongly related to key concepts of modern technology as computing, working with algorithms, encoding signals coming from sensors, treatment, aggregation, analysis and visualization of computable bits. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bendico42 (talkcontribs) 08:43, 16 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
