Looks identical to me. Unless the PDIP is relying on unorthodox sources of funding, perhaps somebody should tell them...Davidelit (talk)

English party name

[edit]

This is gonna sound a bit picky, but... what is the consensus on PDI–P's English name?

  • Indonesian Democratic Party – Struggle, or
  • Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle

I noticed that M. C. Ricklefs uses the latter in his book, and so does Britannica. Arsonal (talk) 22:07, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Asiaweek[1], BBC[2], Britannica[3], CNN[4], International Business Times[5] and the Jakarta Globe[6] all use "Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle". Also, there is no hyphen in the Indonesian name, Partai Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan. Any objections to moving it Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle?
Move was made and redirects fixed beginning of June. No objections so far, so I believe consensus stands as Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle. Darx9url (talk) 03:48, 5 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Parameter on infobox

[edit]

What's the point of putting Joko Widodo on the infobox? Yes, he is a notable politician within the party, but the "President of Indonesia" parameter is not an official position in PDI-P. -- Gervant of Shiganshina (talk) 08:17, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ideology

[edit]

Hello, I think we need to describe this party and other parties more on the grounds of ideology. I think this page looks pretty empty, leaderless and it looks like indonesian politics has a lack of vision. Do you agree? SwoerMell (talk) 18:25, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello back after 3 years, the party’s position has already been updated to “centre to centre-left” with further notes of its increasingly looking big-tent ideology list. This happened alongside another update near the same time period with India’s INC (their version of “big centre-left in name only”), although I suspect the timing might be too coincidental with their upcoming general election. However since PDI-P’s changes only happened months after the Indonesian general election, i hope it was done in good-faith with no ulterior motive SymphonyWizard72 (talk) 18:25, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The issue of "liberalism"

[edit]

The PDI-P program explicitly includes a condemnation of "liberalism," which obviously doesn't track with it being listed as socially liberal. On the other hand, this condemnation is rooted in a highly critical Indonesian understanding of liberalism that connotes it with selfishness (especially economic) moreso than any actual policy prescriptions, and I agree that since Jokowi's ouster, it has become more vocal about those liberal policy prescriptions, even if it doesn't actually call them that. Should we continue to list the party as any kind of liberal or not? Uaiazr Jxhiosh (talk) 02:04, 28 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
