Number of Indian citizens
[edit]I have restored the information about the number of Indian citizens in Pakistan, which has been repeatedly removed by 2607:9880:4038:b:9885:a1b5:6dd3:212f (talk · contribs · WHOIS). The material was added by Mar4d on 3 August 2017, and is sourced to The Express Tribune, considered a reliable source. Unless there is another source that disputes it, I don't see a valid reason to remove it. The information is significant and not given undue weight; since the article is giving information about the number of "Indians in Pakistan", it is naturally relevant to distinguish between those who are Indian citizens and those who are not, if possible. --IamNotU (talk) 23:51, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- @IamNotU: 16 thousand are included in the 2 million figure. 2607:9880:4038:B:2806:AA5B:7347:C80 (talk) 01:52, 27 March 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. Normally when sourced material and its reference are removed from an article, there must be some strong reason to think that the cited source is incorrect, or else that it's insignificant or irrelevant to the subject. I don't see an adequate explanation on the basis of either of those. It's normal in articles that discuss demographics to distinguish between people who are citizens of a country, and those who have full or partial ancestry from that country, and/or who changed their citizenship. It seems to me that this article needs more information, not less, about the situation of Indians in Pakistan. The information from Pew research is only one source, and it doesn't give any indication about what exactly the figure of two million means, or how it was calculated (this is noted in the secondary source). Therefore it does not necessarily represent an accurate number of post-partition immigrants. Also, it should be mentioned that neither India nor Pakistan allow dual citizenship, which would help explain the relatively low number of Indian citizens in Pakistan. Your contributions to the article are appreciated, and I would encourage you to continue working on improving it, as in my opinion, it is not in a very good condition. More information, from a wider variety of reliable sources is needed, as required by WP:NPOV. --IamNotU (talk) 10:21, 27 March 2019 (UTC)

[edit]The second sentence makes no sense, but I cannot figure out what was intended well enough to recast it. ~TPW 17:15, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
