Twenty20 in India

[edit]

I remember reading before that the BCCI claimed that one of the reasons they weren't going to have cricket in the Commonwealth games was because Twenty20 was popular in India. From Twenty20, it's interesting to note that a domestic championship was only introduced in 2007 & India's Twenty20 international debut was December 2006. It also remarks that is has had limited success in India. Is this still true? If so, it will be interesting to see how this goes Nil Einne 10:15, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Former international cricketers including Kapil Dev, Tony Greig, Dean Jones and others such as Kiran More have been hired as board members of the Indian Cricket League."

Kiran More is a former international cricketer too. Shall I edit ? Chocolate Horlicks 23:54, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV

[edit]

The section on India's poor performances certainly does not meet WP standards.... needs to be cleaned up

Karthik.raman 04:32, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re:NPOV

[edit]

Well, I am not sure what is that needs to be cleaned up and in what respect the facts stated in the section are 'unNeutral'. The section "India's poor performance in recent years" tries to explain one of the reasons for creation of ICL. One of the factors working there was poor performance of the Indian cricket team. That created an opening for a rebel league to easily gain credibility and support of public by promising to work for the development of cricketing talent. Please mention what you found objectionable.

Fixtures/Tables

[edit]

I have added a table with fixtures and results. Not sure whether it could be better placed, though. JP (talk) 17:37, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Icl-logo.jpg

[edit]

Image:Icl-logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Updates/moves

[edit]

This article is growing too large and is also quite badly out of date. The team rosters section is pointless is as there are team pages for each franchise which list the players (although most are out of date), perhaps a little summary of each team (coach/star players) and a link to the team's own article would be sufficient. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Frobishero (talkcontribs) 17:32, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think this is a goods point.a separate page should be created for the 2008 season. ajoy (talk) 10:34, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The template for the update is placed above the article as the article contain too many out of date facts. Hbkrishnan (talk) 12:13, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Misunderstanding of ICL series

[edit]

According to the official ICL website (http://www.indiancricketleague.in/) and all other reputable sources including CricInfo (http://www.cricinfo.com/), the ICL has actually had 2 complete series, not 3 or 4 as the various ICL-related Wikipedia articles suggest. The misunderstanding seems to revolve around the fact that, in series 1, the ICL has their main tournament (20/20) then followed that up with a 2nd 20/20 tournament that featured a Pakistan team. Wikipedia, it seems, misunderstood this to be 2 different series, when in fact they were both in the same series but 2 different tournaments within the series.

For the correct information, refer to ICL's website: http://www.indiancricketleague.in/fixtures/icl-tournaments-fixtures-and-results-season1.html

Season 1:

  • ICL World Series
  • ICL Edelweiss Challenge (not a separate series, but part of season 1)
  • Indian Cricket League 50s
  • Indian Cricket League 20-20 Indian Championship (main series for season 1)

Season 2:

  • ICL 20s World Series
  • ICL 20-20 Indian Championship (main series for season 2)
  • Indian Cricket League 20-20 Domestic Tournament

As such, there are in fact 7 tournaments spread out over 2 series. Wikipedia is falsely representing this as 3 series, which is wrong whichever way you look at it. This misunderstanding is not merely in this article but in a number of other related articles and has existed for at least 2 years. Please can people strive to fix this up and to maintain accuracy of this otherwise well written article? 121.45.245.28 (talk) 02:48, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Opening Sentence

[edit]

Currently this opening sentence is highly ambiguous. Is the ICL a tournament being managed by the BCCI and running parallel to the IPL, or is it a tournament running alonside the BCCI-managed IPL? I assume it is the latter, if so, suggest rectify. Flage (talk) 08:42, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You can also add.. that this is now defunct league as most of the players have left the league... and no official from this league is talking...- thokkkalohdi —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.126.125.31 (talk) 17:01, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
