The years assigned to the awards are all wrong

[edit]

Looks like the years are all wrong for these awards and in the associated template. For example, Juno won the 2008 Independent Spirit Award for best feature. 2008, as in, awarded in 2008. Yes, these awards were for films that came out in 2007, but these were the 2008 awards. See "The Winners of the 2008 Spirit Award" on IFC.com for verification. --Melty girl (talk) 04:55, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Truer Then Fiction

[edit]

What is this award for? The page only talks about the sponsor. Tydamann (talk) 00:06, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What are the requirements for nominations

[edit]

I heard that for the big categories like lead actors/actresses, they had to be from American Films, but Helen Mirren was nominated for The Last Station, a German Film. Can anyone clarify? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.223.81.97 (talk) 23:22, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Anything about how ridiculous this award has become?"

[edit]

Two of the awards are really just product placement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stubborn Myth (talkcontribs) 04:59, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Award name

[edit]

Seems Film Independent is the award presenter and the award name is actually only Spirit Awards. This can be seen on the official website name (www.spiritawards.com), the award hashtag (#SpiritAwards), at the "what do we" section on the official site (http://www.filmindependent.org/about/#.VSpWKvmUcpA) which says "Film Independent produces the Spirit Awards". Maybe change article name to just Spirit Awards? --Gonnym (talk) 11:27, 12 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Gonnym, right, Film Independent is the organization that produces the Spirit Awards. The history page says it was renamed Independent Spirit Awards in 1986. Independent Spirit Awards is commonly used by reliable sources (e.g, [1], [2], [3], [4]), so I'd propose changing the title to that. Lapadite (talk) 00:50, 27 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Any editors object to changing the title of the article to Independent Spirit Awards? Lapadite (talk) 19:35, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
