- An RS is needed to substantiate these claims about living people before they can be included. Ankh.Morpork 20:10, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
- No, I disagree. It is a notable well respected group with a well controlled signatory list. AFAIK there has been no controversy or suggestion that any signatory is other than genuine in the last 7 years. And most of the more famous ones have RS in the media discussing it. --BozMo talk 20:21, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
Conspicous ommissions
[edit]I viewed the text of the declaration at http://jewishvoices.squarespace.com/declaration-2/ , and noticed that there was nothing whatsoever on most of the concrete political issues which have arisen within Britain, such as academic boycotts. Any statement which leaves upleasant individuals like Mona Baker of UMIST free to continue down their path of bias and discrimination unchallenged and uncondemned is rather unlikely to calm the political waters... Hmm.
[edit]- Could you point me somewhere where I can read about the "concrete political issues which have arisen within Britain"? I am honestly not sure which issues you are talking about (and haven't heard of Mona Baker) --BozMo talk 14:42, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- You could turn up plenty of info by putting "Mona Baker" or "boycott Israel" into search forms at British newspaper websites. [1] [2] -- AnonMoos 14:58, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, but these articles seem to be people advocating boycotting Israel. This network is broadly a group of Jews who are representing some sort of "not in my name" approach to Israeli policy. Both seem opposed to Israeli actions in Palestine, why should one refer to the other? I am sorry if this seems silly but I honestly don't get it. --BozMo talk 15:03, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Similarity between Independent Jewish Voices and J Street
[edit]Independent Jewish Voices, which is based in the UK, appears to be similar to the new American J Street group in motivation and purpose in my opinion. I am surprised that no one has made the explicit comparison yet. --John Bahrain (talk) 00:45, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
