IRUs can be for anything
[edit]An Indefeasible Right of Use is a way of granting ownership of an asset that is inseperable or otherwise conjoined. A bundle of 96 fibers can have 24 fibers each for 4 companies who pooled resources to build the loop but the cable can not belong to all of them. The primary owner issues an Indefeasible Right of Use (IRU) to the other three. Land that is contaminated and holds potential libility to it's owner can be transfered by an IRU to a user who never takes on the risk of ownership.
Technicaly, an IRU should have no conditions or be Indefeasible. In practice there is usualy a length and other terms included such a agreements about maintenance of the cable or replacements and outages.
Inrefusiable?
[edit]I marked the word inrefusiable with a [clarification needed] in this article because I don't think it is a real word, but I don't know what it was supposed to be. I can't find this in any dictionary, and it shows up in a Google search only for this article. Can someone fix this? CosineKitty (talk) 23:55, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
IRU Accounting
[edit]The accounting of IRU is using operating lease rather then fincial(capital)lease, the main reason is the IRU holder has the right of use ONLY but never own the assets during or at the end of the least period. 58.27.115.117 (talk) 12:25, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
