The language of these sections seems misleading to me. As I understand the law, what could be sold was the advowson that is the right of nomination to the benefice. Given the situation at the time the puritans would have found it very hard to buy advowsons apart from those that were in lay hands (ie those of impropriated benefices). Would a more precise title have been "The Feoffees for the Purchase of the advowsons of impropriated benefices"? Jpacobb (talk) 20:01, 24 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
