Arab?
[edit]Was he Arab? I know he wrote in Arabic but if he's from Isfahan wouldn't he have been Persian? Adam Bishop (talk) 20:46, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- I would say his origin is not known. Being from Isfahan does not necessarily mean you are Persian (See Abu al-Faraj al-Isfahani). It is hard for me to believe that he was an Arab since he does not have an Arabic family (tribe) name. --Lanov (talk) 00:45, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- According to the Arabic Wikipedia his father's name was Safi ad-Din, which is also a Persian name isn't it? (As in the founder of the Safavids?) Adam Bishop (talk) 00:57, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- Safi ad-Din is an Arabic name.--Lanov (talk) 22:48, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

the Arabism is culture not Origin (do you think evry nations come from one father??) also he is arabic poet...so he is arbic --Bayrak (talk) 16:15, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
- Origin is unknown, but he was most likely a Persian based on place of birth and father's name. Someone who is an expert, should look into it. --Sina111 (talk) 00:40, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Expanded
[edit]Since the original article was copied from the crusades-encyclopedia, I've re-written it. It's mostly from Lyons and Jackson's biography of Saladin, Gabrieli, and the Arabic Wikipedia article (this was my first attempt at translating anything substantial in Arabic so I may be way off most of the time...). - Good Thinking and well done although this article needs a long, long time to be a complete article {Hellboy2hell (talk) 07:02, 11 June 2008 (UTC)}
