Query
[edit](In your opening statement, you claim Illinois Steel was created through mergers in 1889, then go on in the following chapter to say it was formed in 1899. So which is the truth? Illinois steel in 1889 or Federal steel in 1898?
(Again, in the authors opening statement, he claims Federal Steel was merged into U.S. Steel in 1904, then contradicts himself by claiming the company became a founding component of U.S. Steel in 1901. Dubious indeed) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nmboomhand (talk • contribs)
18 cents a ton
[edit]"Carnegie sold steel near Chicago at only eighteen cents a ton, forcing Illinois Steel to sell their products below production cost."
How about $18 a ton? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 169.229.202.223 (talk) 00:15, 2 October 2023 (UTC)
