It is emphatically not true that Illinois Loyalty is the second oldest fight song in the United States. The oldest is Boston College's "For Boston" (1885). As mentioned, Michigan's "The Victors" was written in 1898. The music for the Maine Stein Song was composed in 1902. "Down the Field" was written at Yale in 1904-05. The music for "Fight for California" was also composed in 1906, though it was not adopted by the University of California (Berkeley) until the 1908-09 school year. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.178.173.118 (talk) 00:48, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
