[edit]

I had heard it word of mouth from someone that Il Covile was connected to the far-right, which, though somewhat cryptically, seemed to be affirmed by this article's assertion on the adoption of Carl Schmitt's "Catholical form", a curious phrase in its own right, though something that they may do in some way, as Giorgio Agamben has had the strange effect of bringing Schmitt back into philosophical debates, in spite of his critique of him, and their critique of Gender Theory and feminism, which, though I haven't read much of what is on their website, and, so, don't, of course, really know, based off of an interview with Jacques Camatte, who regularly publishes with them, seemed like more of a critique of some feminist insistence upon the notion of gender, which Camatte, at least, seemed to believe was socially constructed, though I didn't read the interview, which is on libcom, in-depth, and not a critique of feminism as per that women are somehow inferior to men, which is how it seems like they're slating things based off of this article. I don't actually see anything on Carl Schmitt on Il Covile, though I haven't looked at the website extensively, and, so, I'm not entirely sure that the first claim is even true.

The editors of the journal also turn up some strange links. One of them goes to an archived blog titled, "Total Totalitarianism", and another to a different blog with various writings, one of which was on Marianetti, though, in retrospect, I think, written ironically. I had to translate the page, and, so, it was all a bit lost on me.

Their own bio reads as follows:

"Over time, the magazine follows, supports and passionately defends proposals, initiatives and lines of thought united by the opposition to the nihilistic drift of modernity in the name of the Christian Epimetheus evoked by Konrad Weiß and Ivan Illich and of the inversion outlined by Jacques Camatte . They range from the option for architecture and urban planning that respect the material and cultural constitution of the human community (following Christopher Alexander , Léon Krier , Nikos Salingaros ), to the denunciation of theAC (contemporary art) (see Jean Clair , Marc Fumaroli , Aude De Kerros ), the choice of rhyming poetry , the analysis of the anthropological question , the attention to the lost Christian roots of Western civilization, the deepening of Marxian intuitions on the origin of alienation ( Giorgio Cesarano , Guy Debord , Jacques Camatte). Covile also deals continuously with material culture, craftsmanship and typography . A special series is aimed at childhood with Il Covile dei bambini. For a first approximation to Covilian interests we recommend taking a look at our collection of Posters as well as our list of Clairvoyants . The spirit seems to us well summed up by Weiß's verse: « Wehrlos, doch in nichts vernichtet » (Helpless but nothing destroyed), which closes the pages of this site."

This page has similar information, but the inclusion of Schmitt, which may be true, like I said, I haven't gone in-depth, and the strangeness of some of the links make it seem more crypto-fascist than it probably is. Daydreamdays2 (talk) 16:41, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
