Harrison Ford's character references this book as a way of making a point about compromise in foreign policy and why it is foolish to negotiate with terrorists. Don't you think that is worth mentioning here? --BenMcLean (talk) 17:30, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
I didn't see that movie, but I totally feel this book is a warning to never give an inch. More about houseguests, but applicable to anything. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:E000:C600:D800:C455:BF99:AF80:3F8C (talk) 20:00, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

Immediate Attention Needed
[edit]I've added the requires attention tag because the article has been heavily vandalized to the degree that the article is talking about Star Wars. I've changed the most recent revisions and reverted the author from James Earl Jones to Laura Numeroff in the first paragraph and in the infobox. However, there are still many mentions of Jones and George Lucas and Darth Vader. If a more experienced editor could make appropriate changes and warn users who are vandalizing the page, it would be greatly appreciated. Lookunder (talk) 21:11, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
- I took care of the series of unconstructive edits. Hopefully that's all there is to it, but if the problems recur we have other options to protect the page from vandalism. EricEnfermero (Talk) 21:35, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks EricEnfermero! As an unexperienced Wikipedian I wasn't sure how to proceed. Lookunder (talk) 01:36, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

Gender of "you" in the Plot section
[edit]In the Plot section, this entry mentions, "The entire story is told in second person," but then the rest of the section recaps the story from the perspective of "a boy" using male pronouns. Second person is often used in children's stories to intentionally be inclusive, it seems not in keeping with the authors' original intention to then gender the main character in this plot summary. I think it could be changed to say "a child" instead of "a boy" and use "they" instead of "he" throughout. I didn't make the edits myself in case there is some context I'm unaware of (perhaps the author has stated elsewhere it was inspired by a particular boy, etc.). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:47:4301:95A0:991F:1D5D:25C7:1872 (talk) 16:27, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
- You're right that this sounds confusing out of context, but note that it's a picture book and the illustrations are of a boy (not just visibly, but as expressed in reviews also). While I'm sure the author wasn't actively trying to exclude anyone, the illustrations are indelibly a part of the story, and it's not really our place to speculate if the author had different intentions. 2600:8800:2396:4600:51DD:4DFA:B5B8:4592 (talk) 20:36, 4 October 2021 (UTC)
