[edit]This is my first article about a novel, and I decided to have a crack at it seeing as this book is one of my favourites. I don't pretend to know much about writing wiki-articles about novels, in fact I know next to nothing, so I've written it how I've seen it mostly. I would be grateful to anyone who is willing to help clean it up! --SGGH 21:05, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- There is a novel article template that may prove useful to you in helping format the page. Nice work so far! Cheers Grey Shadow 15:03, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
Titles
[edit]I've come across:
- If I Die in a Combat Zone, Box Me Up and Send Me Home -from wiki article and google searches [this title seems to be an ongoing internet mistake, also I would recommend editing the main description page.]76.20.140.151 19:13, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[flugenhiber]
- If I Die in a Combat Zone, Box Me Up and Ship Me Home -from google searches and what I thought the full title was, plus the war marching song that the title takes its name from, allegedly.
- If I Die in a Combat Zone -the title of my copy of the book.

A novel?
[edit]Is this really a novel? From the definition of novel: A novel is an extended fictional narrative in prose. This book doesn't look fictional to me. Errabee 15:21, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
- I missed that. I saw the word novel after synopsis. I should head to bed before making any further mistakes. Grey Shadow 15:49, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
Some comments
[edit]Although the writer asked for an assesment on the WikiNovels project page, this isn't going to happen because the book isn't a novel. However, as I do appreciate the intention of asking for feedback, I have some comments on how to improve this article
- add an infobox
- separate events from writer's opinion, this would allow for a shorter (and more readable) synopsis, and put the writer's opinions under a separate heading.
- several abbreviations will not be understood by non-Americans (GI, LZ, R and R centre, ROTC). In general, abbreviations should be avoided.

- I told you I didn't know much about this kind of wiki article! Hehe, I'll do my best with those suggestions, the middle one being the most difficult so will attempt the other two first. Thanks for your help! --SGGH 10:33, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- I've had a go at it. Comments welcome. --SGGH 11:07, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
