About the show...

I think that I am not supposed to talk about the actual show on this page, but about the article. Hope I can add this!! :P I've only watched the 2nd episode, with the guy that won the half a million, and I'm thinking that this show is way too easy! Is it possible that the creators will make this harder in the future? Whcodered 04:55, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

I just watched the third episode, and it seems the identities were hardened a bit. Many of the people looked very similar, and hard to distinguish. Whcodered 05:08, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Ok, so did anyone else see the irony in introducing Jerry Mathers (the "Beaver") right after they introduced the virgin stranger? That, and the fact that they FBI agent thought Miss USA was actually a virgin?!?! What was he smoking? ;-) Dr. Cash 02:53, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Trivia section

I removed the trivia section from this article. The first entry was linkspam. The second entry was only mildly notable, and probably should go into an article about Ben Silverman instead of this one.

Please review wikipedia's official guideline regarding trivia sections; they are generally frowned upon, as information is better presented in other sections of the article context rather than a list. Dr. Cash 17:43, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

CSI Investigator?

Any ideas on the identity of the CSI investigator from tonight's episode? I don't think they identified her on the show, but assuming that they're talking about one of the cast members of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, I've narrowed it down to either Marg Helgenberger or Louise Lombard. If I had to guess, I'd probably say Marg, but it's a tough call. Either way, the contest was smart by taking the $250,000; to me, it was obvious that #11 was NOT the CSI investigator. The gameshow did reveal it. #9 was the CSI Investigator (#11 said she only had one kidney). Is there a different version that is broadcasted for the East coast or something? Jumping cheese ^Cont@ct 05:01, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

I'm not on the east coast, so I don't know. But I doubt it. I know that the show revealed that #11 was the CSI investigator. My question is more in regards to her actual identity. Was she a cast member of the popular television show? Or was she just a crime scene investigator working for some random police department in the US. The fact that they specifically referred to her as, "CSI Investigator," (using all-caps abbreviation) makes me think she was on the show? Dr. Cash 18:58, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Interactive Game

On the Wednesday show, did anyone else see the Listerine commercial where it told you that the answer to the question was #1? I suppose they did this to avoid people skipping the commercial breaks using their TiVo, but was this the case for all of the other shows, or was it just the Wednesday show? I found the appropriate wording in the Official Rules, and have since added to the article. For the record, the Official Rules state: "The correct answer to the Entry Night Question (i.e., which individual has the specified identity) will be revealed during a related commercial that will air no later than approximately the first twenty (20) minutes of the Show." Tri-dentity?

"Tri-dentity cannot be used once only four people remain."

Help?

"Who do you want to know more about?"

I'm adding info on this to the article, but I don't have record- has Penn done this every game (where he asks a stranger his/her name, and some other unrelated facts like he did with Bruce Jenner asking him what movie he'd seen and if he had dogs)... if anyone knows for sure if he has done this every game, and/or if there is a certain spot (after x correct answers), please add it to the article. Was this one-time?

I could be wrong, but I assumed this was a first week test to see if the show would work, and then presumably the show would be produced for a weekly spot if it were successful. The intro paragraph has been changed to "was a game show" as if the game has no chance of being picked up. Is this confirmed? TheHYPO 21:46, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Season 2?

I haven't heard anything regarding if NBC has ordered additional episodes -- it looks like it is still undecided. NBC may opt to wait and see if any of their new shows for the January - June season don't pan out, and then use Identity as a mid-season replacement, and evaluate if they want to order any more shows for the Fall 2007 season based on the ratings for the show as a mid-season replacement. Also, in my opinion, I would think that securing celebrities and casting the show would be difficult, but maybe I'm over-analyzing this situation. NBC has had no problem casting celebrities in 1 v 100, and I don't think Identity specifically requires celebrities. They certainly are a draw, but there's no reason they NEED to be there. (The large number of them in the first week implies to me that they DON'T have trouble casting celebs - 1 v. 100 usually has 1 or 2 per episode at most). Does ID have any production connection to 1 v. 100 and Deal or No Deal? It seems to share a lot of similarities. TheHYPO 08:48, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

Or, perhaps, Identity could be used at a later time to relieve the over-scheduling of Deal or No Deal shows. If NBC were wise, they'd replace some of the Deal or No Deal episodes with Identity later this year, so that more people don't get tired of the show (I, for one, am definitely sick of the DoND format). Home Game - Commercial within 20 minutes

Hey, IanManka: Your reworking to this bit was a big improvement, but still a little muddled; the wording made it seem like NBC places the answer during a commercial within the first 20 minutes of the show to encourage watching the commercials (as if placing it in the last 20 minutes would not). The entry in the rules is there so people won't call foul and say "No fair, you guys are just gonna keep saying it's 'coming up', and then it won't happen until the last five minutes of the show'; this way, NBC can point to the rules and say "That's not true, we guarantee it'll come up early, within the first 20!" and near as I can tell, it's fairly standard among game shows with "play at home" elements.I'll agree, though, that the passage has merit, so I've reworded it more fully. --Max22 06:44, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Who is that guy?

Concern about "The Strangers" Section

With the new season of Identity coming up, I'm worried about the "Strangers" section degenerating into an unencyclopedic list. It's probably okay for just a five-episode series, but as info from new episodes gets added, the large list could become gigantic. (Compare the huge list at 1 vs. 100 (US game show).)

I'm not saying the section needs to be completely removed, but it definitely needs to be "tersed up" - I would recommend removing the "episode" and "game" dividers, and removing all but the most famous/notable strangers. Matt 23:06, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

I do agree with you here - I just tightened up the section (let me know what you think). That being said, the fact that almost all of the subjects have Wikipedia articles implies some sort of notability for the time being. --Scani 17:28, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Alternatively, we could have a separate page as per the Wikipedia Project TV, called "List of Identity Episodes", and then move episode summaries and the list of "Strangers" into this section, redirecting off the main page as needed. --Masem 12:54, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
