Page is a mess

[edit]

This page is a horrible mess. It's written as if these different meanings of the word identity are unrelated, rather than variations on a theme!

Also, the phrase refers to is uncouth. A dog does not refer to an animal that barks, unless the dog can speak. Michael Hardy 03:01, 27 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the poor thing is just a disambig page, for all its length. It could use a blurb at the top to tie all the meanings together, I guess. Also, I wonder if it should be pruned a bit... I didn't feel like making any editorial decisions when I arranged it. Melchoir 04:43, 27 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
However, when dogs speak, they can be hilarious. Melchoir 04:45, 27 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Let's remember that we're making an encyclopedia. The reason a disambig page exists is that many words have multiple meanings. From a philosophical perspective, one could argue that there is a common theme here, but I don't think that would be of interest to most people who use the page. They're looking for something specific. I like the way the page has developed. Bryan 13:32, 27 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
