Date of permanent closure
[edit]I can't find any sources as to when this airport was permanently closed, either in English, French, or Arabic language sources. This means that even though we know the airport once existed— and we know for sure that the airport doesn't exist now (the runway is paved over)— there are no sources for when exactly it was closed without doing original research.
Based on satellite imagery from Google, it is visible that the runway was repurposed sometime between 2009 and 2011. This seems to be about as detailed of a date as we can get unless a better source pops up to nail down a more precise date.
- 2009 (Google Earth) - Runway is fully visible, still exists. Potentially still in use?
- 2011 (Google Earth) - Very cloudy and difficult to make out, but you can see that the buildings visible in the 2013 view have already been built, indicating that the runway is no longer in use by this date.
- 2013 (Google Earth) - Runway has been paved over with buildings and shipping containers covering what used to be the runway.
